Re: Rig Interface Polling

Hi Scott,

Yes, that's exactly what it does, so I guess it's normal. It is interesting, though, that I don't recall having to reconnect when using the TS-2000. I just tried it with the KX2 and it reconnect fine. Oh well, this isn't a major issue so I'm good. Thanks again for your great support for ACL. You've helped me several times in the past. Blessings!

Re: Rig Interface Polling

Hi Dale,

Thanks for your e-mail.  I'm not familiar with the 590 SG, but if it interfaces directly with the PC via USB cable, it may be similar to what I experience with my Icom IC 7610.  In short, I can turn the IC 7610 on and off fine and the polling comes right back up, as long as I leave the power supply on.  If I turn the power supply off, the com port disappears from the PC completely, so of course at that point the software loses connection when the comport becomes invalid.

Just a guess that something similar might be happening there.  I hope that this helps.

Enjoy!

I just bought a Kenwood TS-590SG and am logging with ACL 6.6. My issue is that whenever I turn on the radio, I need to manually re-poll the rig to reconnect to ACL, I have not had to do that with three other radios (TS-2000, K2, KX2). Any suggestions to correct this?

Hi Dave,

This is what you download every time you click: FILE >> Download Country Files from ADIC, which you should do every time Jim sends his email out to the group.

Is there a limit to how many devices you can load the software to?

Re: Invalid entries? #fields

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your follow up.  States, counties and countries are all evaluated.  An all inclusive list of invalid entries would be infinite.  For example, A - ZZZZZZZZZZZ would all be invalid for country names, state abbreviations and county names (aside from the actual valid names / abbreviations), not to mention numerical values, special characters, etc.

AC Log doesn't have a function to list invalid entries at this time, but you can see the valid entries AC Log expects by viewing the Remaining  columns after clicking Calculate for a band for which you have no QSOs.

Enjoy!

What is an invalid entry in a QSO?

In Amateur Contact Log, AWARDS..., there is a checkbox "List only valid entries."  If I check that, I get certain results when I "Calculate."  If I uncheck that, I get different results.

How do I find the QSOs with invalid entries?

What fields in a QSO must be valid?  Or, maybe the same question: What fields in a QSO make it invalid?

Re: QRZ Lookup URL

Hi Jeff,

Actually, AC Log is set up to get a new key if the old one expires.  I know it did work when coded years ago, but I've not tested it in a long time.  I never leave the PC on over night.

Good thought though!  It is possible.

I suspect what may be happening is the session key.  If you have a current subscription, then the first time you log in, if a session key is not available, a session key will be sent back to the calling program and stored for future use.  Those session keys are only good for about 24 hours.  So if you do not close the program, there is a good possibility that after 24 hours, you will not get a lookup and the returned status may or may not be an error code indicating the session key has expired.    Closing the program and restarting will force a request for a new session key.  That is they way it works in PSKExpress and I'm assuming that Scott is doing roughly the same  thing.
