Port Problems with JT Alert and Field day logger

Larry Krist - N8CWU

I have a computer that will not seem to work with JT Alert and the N3FJP ARRL Field Day Logger. It gives me the error from N3FJP Field Day Logger 6.3 that says This program's server is already running on port 1100, please click settings.API to select another port for the client to use bla bla bla.. IF I click ok on the error message, it logs into the N3FJP logger, but I get a message from JT Alert saying it cannot be verified it was logged. I have several computers all setup and networked together using tcp[that work fine and all are exactly the same setup. This is the only one giving me problems.  I have tried disabling the virus software to no avail. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Larry  N8CWU

In the full log I would like it to only show my QSOs with DX stations. I can get it to show all of one country at a time, but I can't seem to use (NOT) USA.

Not quite certain just what you are asking – but if it is total countries you have worked,  click AWARDS à STATES COUNTIES COUNTRIES.  Add any filters in the boxes provided, like a single band or QRP etc, and click CALCULATE.

If that isn’t what you are asking, then please try again.

The way I prefer to “View countries other than mine” is on vacation, but somehow I’m thinking that wasn’t what you were asking for 😊.

H Bryan,

Thanks for your follow up.  Just multi select all the QSOs you want to be treated as having been uploaded from the main form.  Then click Edit > Mark Selected Records as QSO > Sent and enter a capital L in the confirmation type.

Enjoy!

Thank you, Scott. I have done as suggested and all of my entries where VE3QN is shown as Operator now show "L" in the "S Conf By" column. There are, however, a few hundred entries under my previous callsign VE3RBE (at this location) and for these the "S Conf By" column is blank. When I attempt to upload to LoTW using the "All Contacts Not Uploaded" option I get a notice highlighting the VE3RBE entries. (See attached screenshot). I'm not sure what to do here. All the VE3RBE log entries were uploaded to LoTW several years ago and I subsequently let the callsign certificate for VE3RBE lapse. Now I am not sure what will happen if I select either of the options offered. I'm not sure I want to reload all the VE3RBE options and it's possible they won't be accepted since the callsign certificate is no longer valid. I don't want them uploaded as entries from VE3QN. What I do want is for them to be treated as having been uploaded such that when I click on the "All Contacts ..." button N3FJP only offers my new contacts. I'd be grateful for your advice. Thanks in advance. Bryan  VE3QN

For AClog 6.6, may I suggest you change the Alt-D shortcut in LoTW Manager 1.9 from Add station location to Done? (There are 2 underlined D shortcuts)

This is the way it works with the other eLog handlers in AClog, very conventient.

Sorry if I missed this but how long after one logs a QSO in ACLog does the software upload to LOTW and ACLog? I have had a couple of instances of logging the wrong call or QSO info, and quickly going back to delete or edit the QSO. I have never been sure as to whether I have beaten the upload. I poked around and do not see that this is configurable. One can of course Enable Realtime Upload (and I have) but does that mean immediately after logging a QSO or is there some slight delay? Same question for eQSL and ClubLog.

So I installed flrig v 1.3.50. I fire it up and tell the applications to use flrig for radio type. The problem now is, flrig won't run longer than about 2 minutes before it spontaneously shuts down. No clue, no error, just poof, it's gone. I can't keep it running long enough to see if the other apps are actually working through it.

My understanding is to start N3FJP > WSJT-X > JTAlert in that order. I

I am obviously missing something. Any suggestions as to what?

Hi Michael,

You need to set JTAlert to automatically start WSJT-X and then N3FJP, with appropriate delays. In JTAlert: Settings >> Manage Settings >> Applications >> Auto-start. I use 1500 ms for WSJT-X and 15000 ms for whichever N3FJP program I am using at the time. WSJT-X does the rig interface and JTAlert does the logging to N3FJP.

When I try to start JTAlert first, I get a box that says "WSJT-X must be

N3FJP say it must be running before the digital program is started for
the logging API to work.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for your e-mail.  I'm sorry that you have run into trouble.  Anytime you see the "Object reference" error, select None from the rig list and then correct your settings, being sure to click on the correct com port for your set up when you do.  Selecing None will clear any prior settings and the error.

Use the Icom2 selection for the 9700 and change the rig ID to A2 as detailed in the successful settings other 9700 users have sent along here:

I'm having similar issues with my 9700 and unable to get Field Day Contest Log 6.3 to work. Running Win 10 64-bit with latest Icom COM drivers (Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge - version 10.1.2.2115 dated 5/7/2018) showing working properly on COM3 and COM4 via USB port.

Icom Programming software, RTSystems, Win4Icom, WSJT-X and Ham Radio Deluxe all functioning properly.

It feels like the logging software is not communicating with the driver properly, as changing COM port or any parameters in the settings causes the error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" message to appear, along with others, which seem to indicate issue with driver.

I'd like to get this figured out before Field Day if anyone has any ideas.

Any and all help appreciated in advance.
