Re: Not Sending CW with Elecraft

Is there any particular reason why you couldn't use the K1EL Winkeyer box ?  I got tired of troubleshooting issues like this and made the commitment to that particular interface for both of my K3 radios.  I have had no issues since making the change a few years ago.

Not the case about the cable. Running 5 watts or less. Rebooted CPU.

No warnings on the Windows 10 Microsoft Surface when I look up the port Com port is working properly.

All other radio functions that interface with program are working properly except transmitting CW.  I have not tried RTTY.

I had called Elecraft we checked out Transmit function using N1MM and Elecraft KX3 Utility and all is working well.

Some one suggested to use LP Bridge  http://www.telepostinc.com/LPB.html

Is anyone out there Using a K3 or KX3 with this program and CW transmission is working or not working? What did you do to get it working?

Re: LOTW QSO discrepancy count

Scott Davis

Hi Tom,

Thanks for your e-mail.  When you download All Data from LoTW, all the records are downloaded and compared to existing records in your log.  You will be prompted to optionally add any records not found in the download.  Since you are not seeing that prompt and the LoTW count is higher, the only explanation I can think of is that AC Log is seeing some of the records as duplicates.

When you download records from LoTW:

-  The callsign must match the call of the station worked.
-  The band must match the band of the station worked.
-  The date and time in AC Log must match the date and time on the LoTW record.

The matches appear to be occurring with all the records being downloaded, or you would be prompted to add them.

Something you could try is to start a new log with a new database.  With your empty log, do an All Data download from LoTW and compare the result to your existing log.

I hope that this helps.

I notice that there is a discrepancy between my ACLog records count and the total QSO count displayed on my LOTW account.  LOTW shows 1540 QSOs and ACLog only shows 1480.  Ive tried the download all records from LOTW but the count never changes.  Am I missing a checkbox somewhere in the setup

Hello Everyone,

I'm looking for a new logging program and like what I see so far in ACLog. I've installed it on my computer and have been exploring but I have a few questions that I couldn't find the answer to by reading the user manual or searching this group, so any comments or suggestions will be welcomed.

My first question is about alerts in the DX cluster window. I have a list of call signs (US and DX) I want to be alerted to whenever one pops up. I haven't been able to figure out where to enter them on an alert list. I'm sure there is one but I can't find it.

My rig is a Kenwood TS-590SG. Does ACLog use Omnirig for CAT control?

Those are my two biggest questions at the moment, no doubt there will be more.  :)

Thanks for all your help,
Bruce, N9WKE

Re: Sending CW with Elecraft

Christopher Scibelli

When I was using very cheap USB cables my port would close on me frequently when sending CW using AC Log.  It normally happened when I was running legal limit power but not when using 100 watts so I'm fairly certain RF was getting into those USB cables.  Back then I'd reboot the PC and the port would be OK until RFI closed the port again.

So, a temporary solution is just a PC reboot, but if it reoccurs often you may want to buy some double shielded USB cables.  I bought double shielded USB cables from Tripp-Lite which can be found on Amazon.

Re: Error msg when uploading to LOTW

Yes, there was a Queue but it wasn't very, very large, and despite the Queue I could see LoTW had already accepted the QSOs when I logged directly into their site by bypassing AC Log's LoTW section.  Once I saw the QSOs were uploaded to LoTW I was tempted to input a couple "Ls" into the received QSL slots but I figured the program would eventually download them and it did -- but it took a few days.

Just in case somebody is wondering if I'm using the latest versions of LoTW and Tqsl, the answer is yes. :-)

Chris.  Just wondering, but did you check the LoTW Queue-status?  Working shift, I get my timing screwed up.  But somewhere in the last couple of days I know there was a Queue on LoTW of about 3 hours.  That means you can upload, but it will take a while to get processed.

I have no comments on your message because I've never received that error, however, it took me two days to download "Ls" for received LoTW uploads for my last two VP8PJ QSOs.  If I logged directly into the ARRL LoTW page I could see the VP8PJ QSOs were uploaded, but for some reason when I used AC Log it would take forever, and then the link stopped communicating. I eventually just walked away from the computer and came back an hour later and the "Ls" were there for my VP8PJ QSOs. Now they download in a flash which is normal.

I did receive an error a few times but I don't recall the error message.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for your e-mail.  I'm sorry that you have run into trouble.

That error is being returned by the TQSL software, not AC Log.  I don't recall ever hearing of anything like that before.  I suspect the LoTW folks will need to help you with that one.

Enjoy!

Re: Transmit CW Settings Change Com Port

Scott Davis

Hi Jim,

Thanks for your e-mail.  When selecting a com port for CW sending, you must select a different com port from one used for rig interface (or any other functions / software that has hold of the port).  The CW sending function is independent of any other functions and Windows does not allow sharing of ports (without a com port splitter).  Lots more details are here:

Re: New trouble here

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your e-mail.  I'm sorry that you have run into trouble.  That error is being returned by ARRLs TQSL software, not AC Log.  Unfortunately, it is hard to tell on which record TQSL is finding the error, but it sure sounds as if a call value is too long in one of your QSO records for TQSL to accept.

Once you find and correct the call value in AC Log, you will be all set.  You could try uploading portions of your log at a time until you find the record with the error.  Divide and conquer.

Enjoy!

Odd FT4 DX contest exchange last weekend and logging it?

Edward Van Cleave <ed_vanc@...>

Operated my first FT4 DX contest last weekend during the EU FT8 Club DX event.    Received a call from a 6O station in Somalia who gave me a non-standard report that the WSJT-X contest log would not accept.  Instead of the usual 5XX, plus serial number format, it was a combination of two sets of numbers and letters, XX XX.  Presume this may have been some RTTTY cut numbers?  Since I failed to get the exchange into my log, I have no log entry and don't recall what the report was.

I  could have logged the exchange manually into the N3FJP contest module, then try to comprehend the exchange later.  Didn't think of doing it because of the pressure of dealing with two other stations calling me.  Anyone have suggestions for other logging strategies in handling these non-standard exchanges?

Note that this was a WSJT-X issue upstream and not a N3FJP contest log issue.  Since I run two rig control cables that simultaneously link with both WSJT-X and the N3FJP contest module, all I needed do was manually attempt to enter the report received.  Don't know if the contest module would have also choked on the non-standard exchange?

Ed, W0VC

I use the N3FJP program,  our club has a server to run it on..

I am a member of another group that does not have a server available.

I have seen references to at least 2 other sites / programs that perform this same function.

Can anyone send me these references??
