I just finished writing an AClog API client program that forwards AClog QSOs to QSOMAP.ORG.
I'm testing it on my computers and so far it is working just fine -- adding map markers as I create log entries.

After you start AClog, you will have to start up another program (the API client program), enter your Callsign and press a "Connect" button. You then can minimize that window and start logging.

I just have to create an install program and it will be ready for beta testing. Let me know if you want to test.

Re: API Question

Scott Davis

Hi Mike,

Yes, in hind-site, it should have been, but apparently has not been a problem.  I may add the closing tag at some point.  In the mean time, you can use code like this to cycle through and process a variable called buffer, that receives the updates from AC Log.

private static void ProcessBuffer()
        {
            try
            {
                int BeginningOfRecord = buffer.ToString().IndexOf("<CMD>");
                if (BeginningOfRecord > -1 && buffer.Length > 5)
                {
                    int EndOfRecord = buffer.ToString().IndexOf("</CMD>", BeginningOfRecord + 5);
                    while (BeginningOfRecord > -1 && EndOfRecord > -1)
                    {
                        string currentRecord = buffer.ToString().Substring(BeginningOfRecord + 5, EndOfRecord - BeginningOfRecord - 5);
                        buffer.Remove(0, EndOfRecord + 6);
YourCommandActionMethod(currentRecord); //This is where you process an individual record //from the incoming data you requested.
//See if there is anything more in the buffer BeginningOfRecord = buffer.ToString().IndexOf("<CMD>"); if (BeginningOfRecord > -1 && buffer.Length > 5) { EndOfRecord = buffer.ToString().IndexOf("</CMD>"); } } } } catch{exception ex} { //Your error resolution code here. } }

Hi Mike,

I'll be happy to add those fields in the next release, but I'm not planning any releases for a while.  In the mean time, you can retrieve the call from the settings file.

<CMD><SETTINGSPATH></CMD>

N3FJP Software responds:

<CMD><SETTINGSPATHRESPONSE><VALUE>C:\Users\snkda\My Documents\Affirmatech\N3FJP Software\ACLog\Settings.xml</VALUE></CMD>

The user's call is tagged as:

<USERCALL>N3FJP</USERCALL>

Is there any way to get <MYCALL>mycall</MYCALL> or <OPERATOR>mycall</OPERATOR> into the <ENTERVENT> message?
I'm writing a "generic" client and I really didn't want to prompt for a call sign I would rather get it from the Setup form.

Hi Noel,

Thanks for your e-mail.  As a work around, doing the download from AC Log will be fine.  That said, I am curious why you are encountering that.

Which version of the ARRL DX software are you running and which version of Windows are you running?

Scott,

I found the problem  I was running ACL Ver. 6.4.  I upgraded to ACL Ver. 6.6 and the countries download worked fine.  Good question to ask dummies like me; 'What is your ACL version?'.

By the way, without a Microsoft update ID (KB.....) it is almost impossible to find out whether an update is installed.  At least almost impossible for me.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for your follow up.  You should be okay with Win 7.  Please make sure this Win 7 update is on your system:

If you continue to have trouble, try running the SSLFix.reg file detailed at the bottom of the page here:

Also, remember that the Universal ID for Icom radios is 00. Almost all Icom radios will respond to most commands sent to 00. As long as you only have one radio on your CI-V bus, you should have no problem with using 00 for Rig ID.

Hope this helps.
