Super Check Partial lists active contesters.  Scott's programs include SPC, but the file must be downloaded.

Where do I find a PDF-style manual for WFD log?

Does the program know how to look up the prospective call sign to see if it's likely?  IE, that it's a known contester or that it has been seen at FD before?  If YES, then do I need Internet connectivity for anything?  All I am doing now is setting up an isolated WiFi AP so the laptops can talk together, but there won't be an Internet gateway too - is this a problem?

[eQSL-Loggers] QTH Default Ending Date of 01/01/2020

Scott Davis

Hi All,

FYI:

A lot of users took the default ending date of 01/01/2020 when they set up their accounts years ago. They may start getting errors during log uploads or imports if the QSO date is after 01/01/2020 and just need to be reminded to update their profile to set the ending date sometime in the future.

Scott,

Actually I am Phil and a lousy typist...

Is there a doc specifically about connecting the logging laptop to the radio via USB?  Like what settings to use?

Thanks for your help and quick reply. And sorry for the "last minute HEEEELLLLP" request.

Here are USB Settings that work for an IC-7610:

On N3FJP Software:COM3 (in my case)
  • Icom2 "Rig"
  • Baud = 38.4
  • None/8/1
  • Conn Power: none  (turning on either of these made the radio TX whenever it was being polled)
  • Poll Rate:  2 secs as suggested
  • Mode By: Rig
  • Read Freq hex string: FE FE 00 E0 03 FD
  • Read Mode hex string: FE FE 00 E0 04 FD   +   98h also works for the 3rd set of hex values
  • Nothing, at all checked in the settings on the right

In my Radio, under Menu > Set > Connectors:
USB Send/Keying: 1st 3 choices OFF
CI-V
  • Baud: Auto
  • Address: 98h
  • Transceive: ON
  • USB/LAN: 00h
  • CI-V USB Port:  Unlink
  • Echo Back: OFF      Probably because I am using your new Icom2 "Rig".

Hope this is useful,

Hi Phuil,

Thanks for your e-mail.  You will find detailed help for all of my software here (sorry no PDFs):

Winter Field Day works much like Field Day, which is explained in detail in this video here:

http://www.n3fjp.com/faq.html#q78

You'll need Internet to set up Super Check Partial to download the call signs to check, but once downloaded, you won't need Internet to use the feature.  Click Settings > Super Check Partial to enable, before you head out to the remote location.

Enjoy Winter Field Day!

Re: POTA AC Log Customization Video

Scott Davis

Hi Matt,

Awesome!  There are some videos on interfacing my software with digital programs, but I've not come across any that are quite as concise and to the point as I would like to see.  Good videos would be most welcome on interfacing:

- AC Log to WSJT via JTAlert

- N7YG Digital Engine to my contest software

- FLDigi to my contest software

These could be three separate videos.

With CQ WPX RTTY coming up, that would be a great contest program to use with the digital software (maybe even capture some real time logging).  Another good option is the ARRL RTTY software.

Again, the biggest compliant I hear for the existing videos is folks don't want to wade through 15 minutes of narrative for a couple settings, so if they could be shown how in a concise way and then given a quick demonstration, that would be awesome!

And if anyone knows of any videos that fit that bill already, please say the word!

Winter Field Day This Weekend - Please Use the Correct Program!

Scott Davis

Hi All,

Kimberly and I are receiving an unusually large number of e-mail from folks who are confused, thinking they can use the ARRL Field Day software for Winter Field Day this weekend.  The ARRL Field Day software is designed for the ARRL Field Day in June and won't work for this weekend's Winter Field Day contest.

Please be sure that you have installed and entered the correct password for the Winter Field Day software, which you will find here:

If you are a registered package user and can't find your Winter Field Day password, please e-mail us direct right away (don't wait until Saturday) and we will be happy to send it along.

Winter Field Day begins at 19:00 UTC Saturday and runs until 19:00 UTC Sunday. If you are planning a remote, networked setup, please be sure to get your equipment configured in advance!  All the networking details are here:

And here:

Complete Winter Field Day details are here:

I hope to work you this weekend!

Enjoy!

Re: Satellites Names and eQSL

Scott Davis

Hi Alan,

Thanks for your e-mail.  Yes, when uploading by ADIF, the Sat_Name is included (you can open the ADIF file in any text editor to to view the file yourself).

Sat_Name is not currently included in the eQSL direct upload.  I will include it in the next AC Log revision.  In the mean time, be sure to continue to use the ADIF upload when you are sending Satellite QSOs.

Enjoy!

I'm uploading satellite contacts to eQSL with the 'Sat Name' field populated. When the eQSL arrives the Sat Name is not there. Can you confirm that the Sat Name is passed in the ADIF file as it appears to do when uploading to Lotw.

Re: Winter Field Day Satellite contact logging

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your e-mail.  There isn't a way to log alternative exchanges in the WFD software.  Check the Satellite check box on the Cabrillo form to record your points for that QSO.

Enjoy!

We will be attempting a satellite contact during WFD. The rules say a simple grid square exchange will suffice instead of the class and section. Is there a way to log this in the WFD logging program? Or should we just put all details in the Soapbox section of the Cabrillo file?

Thanks
