Date
Winter Field Day This Weekend - Please Use the Correct Program!

Scott Davis

Hi All,

Kimberly and I are receiving an unusually large number of e-mail from folks who are confused, thinking they can use the ARRL Field Day software for Winter Field Day this weekend.  The ARRL Field Day software is designed for the ARRL Field Day in June and won't work for this weekend's Winter Field Day contest.

Please be sure that you have installed and entered the correct password for the Winter Field Day software, which you will find here:

If you are a registered package user and can't find your Winter Field Day password, please e-mail us direct right away (don't wait until Saturday) and we will be happy to send it along.

Winter Field Day begins at 19:00 UTC Saturday and runs until 19:00 UTC Sunday. If you are planning a remote, networked setup, please be sure to get your equipment configured in advance!  All the networking details are here:

And here:

Complete Winter Field Day details are here:

I hope to work you this weekend!

Enjoy!

Hi Alan,

Thanks for your e-mail.  Yes, when uploading by ADIF, the Sat_Name is included (you can open the ADIF file in any text editor to to view the file yourself).

Sat_Name is not currently included in the eQSL direct upload.  I will include it in the next AC Log revision.  In the mean time, be sure to continue to use the ADIF upload when you are sending Satellite QSOs.

Enjoy!

I'm uploading satellite contacts to eQSL with the 'Sat Name' field populated. When the eQSL arrives the Sat Name is not there. Can you confirm that the Sat Name is passed in the ADIF file as it appears to do when uploading to Lotw.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your e-mail.  There isn't a way to log alternative exchanges in the WFD software.  Check the Satellite check box on the Cabrillo form to record your points for that QSO.

Enjoy!

We will be attempting a satellite contact during WFD. The rules say a simple grid square exchange will suffice instead of the class and section. Is there a way to log this in the WFD logging program? Or should we just put all details in the Soapbox section of the Cabrillo file?

Thanks

What would be really great is to be able to set up a profile for each call sign for users that have multiple hams using the same computer.  When changing from one ham to the other if we could just select the profile for that ham that would switch the log, display settings, eLog info etc if would be a lot easier to switch from one call sign to the other.

I think the sh/dx behavior you describe is a leftover remnant from the original AK1A PacketCluster code. Back then it was transmitted to users at 9600 baud AX.25 on 2M. As a result, it scrolled by, line by line, s.l.o.w.l.y.

Re: Multiple call signs with one ACL

Bob Wilson

As long as you aren't logging to both calls simultaneously, I think the best way to accomplish this is to create a new log in a new database. Open ACL, and then File > New. The default database name is LogData.mdb, but I would suggest giving each database a unique name for easy identification and switching between them. This is what I did for my recent K4Q special event, and it worked fine.

Another question, but don’t really think it’s anything ACL has to do with:

Why, when one does a sh/dx does the posting list scroll go backwards – that is, the most recent posts are at the top of the scroll and generally off screen so you (me) have to scroll the list down to see the latest spots?

There.

I feel much better now.

Hi Frank,

Thanks for your e-mail.  When you select Icom2 from the drop down, the value is checked and grayed out, so it can't be unchecked, as the setting is required for all Icoms.

Enjoy!

Hi Rino,

Thanks for your e-mail.  I have no plans for that feature, but you could always start a new log for 2020 and accomplish it that way if you like.

Enjoy!

Hi Fred,

Thanks for your e-mail.  To customize the layout of the DX Spotting display:

-  Click Settings > DX Spotting > Column Headers (to display the column headers).

-  Drag them to your preference.

Enjoy!

Something I've been wondering about. Why isn't the DX Spotting grid set up the same as the DX Clusters. That is, spotting station first, followed by frequency, DX station, then comment.

Use a Dropbox folder that you can access from both machines for the log file.

My question is this: how can I keep both computers coordinated with respect to LoTW submissions? In essence I'd like to see the same log information on both PC's after doing LoTW upload followed later by an LoTW download.

I hope this this makes sense...

Thanks in advance for the help!
