Although I am very grateful I am instantly notified of a dupe, I was
wondering if there was a way to turn off the sweet voice that
announces the duplicate. Since I'm using .wav files with vox,
Kimberly's voice goes over the airwaves.

This only happened once so far, and thankfully I'm QRP so probably not
many heard it. There's a lot of 20 over signals that can't hear QRP
tonight so far. I think they're deaf!

What is the status of this? It worked in AC Log 2.5 and Sweepstakes
3.8, but has been broken since. I am not a programmer (nor do I play
one on television!), but it seems to me that it SHOULD be relatively
easy to look at what changed and undo it....

That is a REALLY nice feature and is one of the PRIMARY reasons that
I started using your programs and it seems a shame to lose that
ability.

Sounds like PC-cillin is more than just anti-virus software.  Sounds like it has a built in firewall as well.  I'm not familiar with PC-cillin myself but look in the documentation where it references something about a firewall or port blocking.  What you're looking for is to be able to tell the software to not block traffic on port 25.

After changing to a new anti-virus software (PC-cillin), I find that now I cannot access the DX spots via Telnet. I had been using Norton's anti-virus program and the Telnet and DX spots functioned perfectly. My Internet access is fine -- after uninstalling Norton's and the old Sygate firewall.

 

Now, as long as Telnet is activated, there seems to be a conflict because ACLog 2.8 will take 30 seconds or so to come up on the screen. When I try to open a port, I get this error message, "Connection is forcefully rejected." I am using port 23 for Telnet to dxspots.com.

 

When I click "Done," it takes 30 seconds or so to return to the normal log screen -- and only part of the log is displayed during that time. So it sure seems like a conflict has arisen.

 

Thoughts on a solution?

Thanks for your e-mail.  The limit is hardware driven not software driven.  You can have as many contacts as you can put in there as long as your PC can handle it.

The size of the spotting window on the main form is not adjustable and the November Sweepstakes program only displays US and Canadian spots.  To quickly scan all the recent spots, press Ctrl D to display the larger window.  Remember, if you are using rig interface along with DX spotting, just click on the Green sections to tune your rig to the spot frequency of the section that you need.
