Re: JS8 Call with WFD Version of ACLog

fkemmerer@...

Here's some information on the use of JS8Call for WFD from the WFD Facebook page -

...
JS8Call appears to meet our "full exchange" requirements, but appears to be web-dependent for synching transmissions between stations, which would also make it useless in SHTF EComms (and NOT within our rules about using the web).. but we'll accept logs using it if you can synch w/o the web..
That is the decision of the full WFDA board.

Thank you Scott - this helps.

I know that there is a path for WSJT-X to your logger via JTAlert. I am wondering if there might be a similar, more automated interface. It looks like JS8Call can export log data via UDP to N1MM+. I believe you also support WSJT-X logging via JTAlert in ACLog. We can do it manually as you suggest as well but a more automated interface might be less error-prone.... Let me know what you think is best.

Re: JS8 Call with WFD Version of ACLog

fkemmerer@...

Thank you, John. Yes, I know that. JS8Call uses a different mode JS8. Note that the organizers indicate that JS8Call IS legal for WFD as long as the clocks are set manually. This is easy to do. See the WFD Facebook page for details.

Hi Fred and All,

Thanks for your e-mail.  You can log any mode in my contest software, regardless of what your rig is returning, by pressing  Ctrl + Shift + M.

CTRL+Shift+M Mode Override option to override mode returned by rig interface (contest software only released after 10/16/17)

Just be sure the mode you specify is allowed in the contest rules.

Enjoy!

JS8Call is NOT the same as FT8. Different program.  It is more in the lines of PSK31 with a different decoding engine.
I am not aware of a go between for JS8call and AClog.

JS8 Call with WFD Version of ACLog

fkemmerer@...

Hello,

Our Club is preparing to use JS8Call at Winter Field Day. We will also be using the WFD version of ACLog. Is there a way to get JS8Call to log directly into the WFD version of ACLog? How do we setup JS8Call and ACLog to do this? Thank you everyone in advance for your help!

Subject: [N3FJPSoftwareUsers] Data source for Station field?

I have been using ACLog for a while but recently changed computers.  Moving the log to a new PC was painless, but in looking through the log fields, I just noticed a field labeled "Station" which contains the name of my old PC in each record, even since the change.  I also see a field labeled "PC Name".  This field accurately contains the name of the PC used when the contact was logged.

What is the source of the data for the "Station" field, and how do I change it?  Thanks!

I inadvertently deleted 5 qso's from ACLog. Now after I run 'All Data' from the LOTW screen I get the 5 calls showing up as IGNORED. I then get a message; You have downloaded one or more records that are not currently in your log. Would you like to add them; yes/no. If I answer yes will this actually add them back into ACLog? Are there any other issue's this may cause?

Yes it will download what LoTW has. You’ll need to fill in the blanks from memory.  Then sort on date to get them back in order with the rest of your log.

Hope this helps.  And at 0500 I’m off to run the power grid….  Have a GREAT Day.

I noticed two CONFIRMED spots today in ACLog packet cluster with countries I never worked on those bands on any mode. But yet they were spotted as confirmed. Not sure why this is happening.
One was Thailand 40m FT8 as confirmed, I've never worked Thailand on 40m on any mode.
One was Faroe 20m CW as confirmed, I've worked Faroe on 17m cw and it is un-confirmed.
I looked at the FREQ tab and there is no error there or in the BAND tab.

I don't have a 7610, but on my 7300 to switch between rig control on the USB or C-IV the only thing I change is the com port. Both of those options work ACL and the contest programs. Try leaving the address at 98 on both.
When I run WSJT with JTAlert, I let them do the rig control and turn it off in ACL

Hope that helps.
