I've transferred my logs from another logging program and went through the process of changing a few names of counties where there were small differences (e.g., a period after St. plus deleting a few spaces such as De Kalb, De Witt, etc.). I also found an instance of a county name change (SD Shannon to SD Oglala Lakota in 2015) but one issue remains. When I use the "Locations Worked List" it shows IA O'BRIEN as not confirmed but when I try to modify my log to include the apostrophe in the county name, I can't insert the apostrophe. What am I missing? No big deal, just an anal retentive engineer putzing (PA Dutch). 73 Monty, W3SB

I recently got a CAT cable for my old FT-757 GX2. I have been unable to get it to work with the N3FJP QSO Party programs. The commands to change frequency and mode work but there is no data coming back from the radio. Has anyone had luck in getting this to work?

Shoot! I always try to work the Batfish on Museum Ships Weekend but was unable to this year. Thank you to the whole crew that put her on the air, though, and for posting the video.
I wrote a book about Batfish...a remarkable story on two fronts: what she and her crew accomplished in WWII and how she came to rest today in the middle of a former bean field in Muskogee, Oklahoma, at the highest elevation any submarine has ever been. The book is IN THE COURSE OF DUTY. Plus WW2SUB is my favorite call sign of all! Glad to hear Amateur Contact Log is helping them get all those eager callers documented. 73, Don N4KC

We used one server to collect all the contacts into one master list, managing the active callsign and operator in the setup portion of the software.
We had hickups. When things got quiet, the server would go to sleep and cause some frustration, but we eventually figured that piece out.
Here is the good news summary.
*Prevent idle computers from sitting on a band/mode in use by an active station.
*Prevent the server from going into a sleep mode.
*Have operators review/complete the setup when they occupy a stations and operate.
*Display the activity on a Big Screen and watch live the contact list grow, and depending on the tempo, it grows fast!
The event coordinator just informed me that he completed the post event task in less than 2 hours and for the 1st time we have real stats on who did what!

KENWOOD TS-850 losing communication

Will N3FJP’s AC Log lose communication with the Kenwood TS-850 because of the radio’s firmware? The TS-850 is not capable of communicating with some logging programs while the VFO knob is being turned. If you turn the VFO knob smoothly and continuously, no matter how slowly, the radio will not respond to radio polls and the link will time out. This is a radio firmware limitation, not a software issue. TNX NE5ET Perry

We plan on doing the same on FD. If I recall right, all we did was down load to a flash drive, and upload on to the other computer. Then we did a “sort on date” and it integrated the files. I didn’t do the process, but I think that is how our “resident geek” did it.

You should be able to merge (import ADIF file from the 2nd computer) the two logs together within the VHF program and then you can sort it so the contacts fall into the correct date/time order. Then you can export that entire ADIF file and merge that with your master log (AC Log) and sort it again if you need to. 73 Mark McLauchlin KN7T

Thanks for the reply Scott. The problem is now solved. Apparently after the last Windows update I went into rig set up to verify both rigs were still working with AC log. I used the "test swap" button to switch to the second rig to verify that rig control for that rig was still working. I never switched it back to the primary rig. Your reply to my email mentioning Windows updates jogged my memory. Thanks for the great software and superior tech support. Jim....N3MVX

I wish I had something insightful to suggest, but since this just started happening, the only thing that comes to mind is perhaps you recently installed a program that has hold of the port on start up, but then releases it (though AC Log should be returning an error in that case). Another possibility is a port driver problem following a Windows update.

This error seems odd to me: Why would I receive a "Server Failed to Respond" message (image attached) while ON the host machine itself?
I'm running ARRL Field Day Contest Log 5.8 on a Windows 10 machine with 8GB RAM and 800GB free disk space. Network Method is TCP on this machine.
Does anyone know what caused this error and how I might avoid seeing it again?
