Re: LOTW User List

Thanks, Marv! That's the answer I was looking for. However, I see that the user list file itself may not be current. For example, I just uploaded to LOTW yesterday, but AC Log (after I updated the LOTW user list) says I last uploaded Sep 20.

Hi Dale,

Thanks for your follow up.  That error message is detailed on the LoTW help page under "In Case of Difficulty - Don't Panic!" here:

http://www.n3fjp.com/lotwhelp.html

Clicking the From Registry button as detailed in Step 4 will do the trick.

Enjoy!

Re: Digital Help

Hi Dale,

You definitely do not need HRD.  Uninstalling and reinstalling may not delete your settings files for WSJT and JT Alert.  You would likely be better served to close and delete the settings files of those two programs and then start fresh.

Hi Dale,

Thanks for your e-mail.  I'm sorry that you are having so much trouble.  My software doesn't interface with HRD in any way.  M suspicion is that you somehow reconfigured the other packages for HRD, using different ports.  HRD is not required at all, so I suspect if you restore WSJT and JT Alert to defaults and then reconfigure, that will get you going.

I have posted in a number of forums that deal directly with the IC 7300.  So this may sound familiar to some.

I want to run FT8.  If I understand all I think I know I understand, WSJT-X, JTAlertX, ACL, and the 7300, should be able to run FT8, and would be the ONLY programs I would need to accomplish that.  I have watched countless You Tube videos, read and re-read Scotts’ instructions on API and Rig Interface, and I am still at what seems to be base one.

The only way I can get everybody to play together is to download HRD and be running it concurrently with the rest.  With HRD running it logs to ACL fine.  Without HRD I can’t get anything to talk to each other and thus end up with “error connecting” and “I/O” errors.  I can not even get WSJT-X to read frequency.

Why I even got involved in HRD is a long story, but has nothing to do with the quality of N3FJP software.  I WANT to use N3FJP but just can’t seem to get it configured right.

Is there anyone out there that can pull me out of this mess?  If need be I would be happy to pass along all the settings on the 7300 and WSJT and anything else that might be needed.  I am at wit’s end.  (and to boot my “free” HRD trial ends day after tomorrow).  Don’t get me wrong, this is something I been trying to change for over a week, but have been unsuccessful in doing.  It is not something I just sat down tonite to try and change.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your e-mail.  With the server enabled in AC Log, that is required with AC Log software.  I have details here on setting up the JT Alert Software:

http://www.n3fjp.com/help/digitalsetup.html

To transfer your data from the CWT software, as long as the server is enabled in AC Log, from the CWT software just click File > Transfer via API.  That's all there is to it.

Enjoy!

The problem I had initially was that I could not get JT Alert on the computer because of  Microsoft Defender.  Wsjt-x has always worked well.  I finally solved the problem of the internet security and got JT Alert installed.  Everything works fine except for sending the logged contact from wsjt-x to AC Log.  Wsjt-x reads my log in the log scan mode, but it doesn't work the other way.  I show Port 1100 in AC Log with a report that it is enabled.  I show in JT Alert that AC Log is enabled on Port 1100.  I will look at it again and try to change to 2237.  Thanks for the information.  As I think back, I was never able to interface with the API function between logging programs.  I use the N3FJP CWT mini-contest log and was never able to interface with AC Log.  I have always just saved to desktop and imported into AC Log.  That is not a huge problem, but the interface would be nice.  Dave, K8CMO

Previously you said you tried to connect ACLog with WSJT-X , without using JTAlert.
You mentioned then, that you had changed the UDP port in WSJT-X (on the Reporting Tab) to match ACLog (1100).
If you haven’t already, you will probably need to change this back to 2237 in WSJT-X, so all the connections between the THREE programs can take place.

Re: Interfacing with my IC-735

John Huber

Jeff / K1JWJ,

Yes, you will need a serial port connection from your laptop to Icom CI-V data port on the back of the radio to control the IC-735 (as in read or set frequency) via ACLog or any other radio control software.  If you are just trying to do sound card modes it can be done with just the SignaLink. You may need to have your VOX turned on to activate transmit when sending audio to the SignaLink.   I have used a SignaLink with my IC-735 (but it was a few years ago).  For a laptop look for a USB to CI-V cable.  Try to avoid a cable which has a Prolific chip in it as there have been many reported problems because of the many counterfeit chips being sold by various vendors.

Primary rig is an IC7600. On the short list is an Asus gaming laptop with sufficient USB and video out ports, an i7 processor, and plenty of RAM and storage. Also looking at small footprint Dell desktops.

So - pros and cons laptop vs desktop? I figure I can take the laptop with me for general use and portable ops too. Those with laptops as a station computer - leave the battery charger always connected, remove the battery, or exercise it regularly?

Thanks and 73
