ESM

Running in ESM on latest version using Win 7, I call CQ, then type in the answering callsign. I press enter (F2 is highlighted) and the exchange starts with his callsign but I get a question mark after his callsign and then the rest of the exchange is sent.  Confuses everyone!

If I do not press enter but press F2 it works perfectly, sending his callsign (but with NO ?) and the exchange is sent.  Am I wrong in thinking that the first method (using Enter) should work without the ? after his callsign?

Some of you reading this may have heard me on CWOPs last night when I was running.  Sorry!

It should not be inserting a ?. My N1MM+ does not do that.

Thanks Claude, I will do so but it will have to be later this afternoon as I am at the office.  Thanks again.

Ed,

In Configurer there is box that allows you to control the character sent between the callsign and exchange.

The default is a space. You may have inserted a "?" in that box.

Thanks, John.  I found the box in Configurer and it had and does have just a SPACE.  Nothing else.

Looks like the problem is your Run F5 definition - which gets concatenated with F2 as part of the exchange when in ESM mode.

Your Run F5 message sends the callsign followed by ?

F5 PARTIAL, !?

The program default for "His Call" key is F5.

John and Claude,

That fixed it.  Thanks.  Didn't think that F2 was "reading" F5.  I'm sure you know what I was trying to do--when you get a partial, send what you have and end with a question mark.

I do understand that with the pgm all you need to do is fix the call and it will go back and correct the call upon your F3 (TU) response.  This is a great feature.

As always, the Help is terrific in this group.  Thanks again!

Ed, AI6O

VE2FK

Ed, you still can use this key for what you wanted, but without the ?
You have VE2 inserted in the call box... you want the guy to repeat... use F5 it
will send VE2 and the guy will repeat VE2FK hi.

I understand and agree, Claude.  I probably was getting too fancy--HEE.  Hey, thanks for the fine Call History files.  Much appreciated.  I just started using N1MM+ about 3 months ago and I don't know how I did any contesting (mostly part-time) before.  As we used to say down in Virginia, I'm in hog heaven!!  73

Sam Rubin <srubn@...>

I would also do the same for s&p F5 to make it consistent .
