Re: DXLab Gateway ?

Chris

Thanks, Rich.  I found the settings.  I was looking for the entry category so that the external lookup function was available.  Now I have to read through contest setup.  I figured out for myself that I have to enter my call in the Operator field or the system won't let me exit the database.  I am continually amazed at the level of functionality and detail that both N1MM and DXLab contain.  My hat is off tot the authors of both.  They are really amazing pieces of software.

Thanks again.  The support  provided on these groups is truly amazing.

Looking at my current totals it shows the following:
 Band     QSOs     Pts  Pfx  Pt/Q
     7          38     148      1    4   3.9
    14         40     144      1   18   3.6
    21           3       9        3    0   3.0
 Total      81     301        5   22   3.7
Score: 8,127
1 Mult = 3.0 Q's

There is no doubt that I have more than one DXCC prefix worked on 20 and 40....anyone else having this issue or am I not understanding the scoring?

N1MM+ for simultaneous contests ??

CW Morse

Does N1MM+ support logging separately for more than one contest at a time?  e.g., today Michigan and Ontario ran at the same time.  I think I opened logs for both but didn't find any easy way to switch back & forth.  I searched the manual for anything that I thought would do it, with no luck.

Alt-F then 2, will toggle between the two most recent contests.

BUT ONLY IF ALL ENTRY FIELDS ARE BLANK.

The requirement that all entry fields be blank dates from last summer is a MAJOR USABILITY DEGRADATION for weekends with more than one contest.

Set up for both contests, when you want to change, click
File, then choose from the list at the bottom of the window
that opens.

Understand the mults but my score is not correct. I just discovered you need to download a special country file from the N1MM+ site for this contest.

Re: Adding digirite?

Hi Rick,

As a blind operator, I was hoping this could be a step towards a screen reader accessible solution, that would make FT8 available for general and mixed mode contest logging?

Anyway, I look forward to hearing more about this in due course.

Cheers for now,

Terry

Hi all,

I’ve just heard of an open source program for FT8 that is normally integrated into Writelog. It seems from the literature that this could be run stand alone, but doesn’t do any rig control or logging. It sounds like it could be integrated into N1MM Logger + to good effect? Any thoughts?

Cheers and thanks,

You can toggle between more than just two recent contests.  It appears you can switch between the last 9 contests loaded.  This past weekend
I had 5 contests loaded and switched between all of them during the weekend. CQMM-YUDX-HolyLand-MIQP and ON QP.

Feature request:
In Entry Window:
just to the left of date-time-group a display of the current log...
This would help dolts like me from getting all messed up switching between contests...

Tim, have you put in a formal Feature Request?  I know from 15 years observation that the N1MM team takes FRs seriously, particularly when they come from active contesters (I think you qualify).

Tim,

Isn't that just saying not to switch contests if you have an unfinished QSO in progress, or at least a callsign in the entry window. A wipe quickly fixes that for the odd occasion that I might expect this to occur. Or, is there something else I am missing. I don't do a lot of QSO party contesting.

Folks,

This change was made to eliminate corruption of the user database. Here is the release note.

Database Corruption: Do not allow the user to change contest logs if a contact was started.

It takes a lot of personal time to track down issues like this.

Some contests do not use the regular wl_cty.dat file

see Files>Additional Support Files
in this case - cty-CQM.dat

Some contests using UDCs have special cty.dat files, these are usually
supplied in the contest zip file.

Re: N1MM+ for simultaneous contests ??

Pete, when this feature that I love - being able to Alt-F 2 to flip between contests with stuff in the entry windows - disappeared last summer, I filed a bug report.

I was told by the developer that the way it used to work and I liked it to work was a bug, and I had obviously really miffed the guy because he told me about all the time he had invested in fixing this particular bug.

I will take your advice, and try writing it as a feature request and try to use super nice words to not miff the guy again. It sure would be nice to have it back again, for WAE-CW weekend which also includes the MD-DC QSO Party. I flip contests hundreds of times that weekend and it sure would be nice to do so with stuff in the entry box again.

TESTERS WANTED: Prototype website

Larry K8UT

For the past two months the N1MM Dev Team has been working to migrate the current website and its 900+ pages of documentation to a new platform. The work is 100% Content-complete and 90% Feature-complete.

Goals
The Primary Goal of the migration is to improve the ease-of-use in installing, configuring, and operating N1MM+ in contests. We cannot reduce the manual's page count, but we think we can deliver better tools for browsing and searching those pages to find the answers that you seek. Hopefully these better tools will bring you quick access to the right information and make you more self-sufficient.
The Secondary Goal is to reduce the burden on the N1MM Dev Team members, who find themselves answering, re-answering and re-re-answering questions that are difficult to get answered on our current ill-equipped website. This new platform should deliver on that primary goal of self-sufficiency.

New Features
At first glance the new website looks like the old website, but under-the-covers things are very different. Some of the most significant improvements are:
  • Reduced Web-Page Count - the material in the new N1MM Manual section consists of 31 web-pages, reduced from the current 104 web-pages. Fewer but Larger web-pages should eliminate much of the page-flipping when looking for answers with a browser's <ctrl>+F find function
  • Expanded Menu - navigate to one of those 31 pages directly from the drop-down menu
  • Search and Advanced Search - it works. It's fast. Sorted by Relevance. Results are highlighted on the page
  • Bug Reports and Feature Requests - transparent, search-able. Read your BRs and FRs on-line. Read postings from other users, and the Dev Team's responses, before deciding if you need to submit one
  • Explorer-like File Download - click-able hierarchy should be easy-to-use and familiar to anyone on Microsoft Windows
  • Single-table Supported Contests List - all 400+ supported contests are listed in one table that can be sorted, searched and filtered. Rather than having to know where to look before you look: Is this a UDC contest? An HF contest? A QSO Party? ...
The Challenge to N1MM+ Users
If you have any spare time, please spend a little on the prototype website. Experiment with the new features listed above - particularly the Search, Advanced Search and Contests List. Create a bogus Bug Report and Feature Request. Leave comments, suggestions and questions in the Comments sections of the Prototype Description page. We hope to take the new website "live" in a few weeks and need some diligent testing before throwing that switch.
