Re: band button in entry window, fixed

Jerry,

I do see something odd occurring when the Bandmap window is open and the program is closed. I will look at this.

I just tested without restarting and the frequency by mode seems to be working correctly. For those that disagree check these items:

Do you have the contest set for digital modes? Open the contest dialog and look at the MODE dropdown. Is it set to a mode that includes “digital”?

I have the left hand side of this window set to “Use contest or radio mode”. Other settings may also be OK, just noting my setting.

To store the digital frequency by mode the right hand side of the Config, Mode Control tab window needs to be set correctly for RTTY and digital modes.

If you type RTTY in the callsign box and press ENTER does the radio switch to the correct mode for RTTY? If not, select the correct setting until this is correct. The frequency store by mode can not work properly if you don’t associate the radio mode to program mode correctly.

If you type PSK31 in the callsign box and press ENTER does the radio switch to the correct mode for Digi modes? If not repeat the above.

Select a contest with CW, SSB, RTTY and PSK modes and set the mode selector to CW+SSB+digital.

I noted the last used frequency on two bands and switched mode on a different band. When I returned to those bands and mode the frequency was correct.

Good evening all,

Well, with more testing I have found that I can create the problem of the 20 meter frequency button in the Band Panel defaulting to 14.200 MHz, and by the same token I can eliminate the problem.

What causes the problem is the Band Map window.

In RTTY mode, if the Band Map window is CLOSED when N1MM logger closes, then all band buttons in the Band Panel will be at the last used frequency when N1MM is started agaicw

n.,

However, by the same token, if the Band Map window is open when N1MM is closed, then the 20 meter frequency button in the Band Panel will default to 14.200 MHz.

I have run this exercise many times and it always follows that if the Band Map window is OPEN when closing N1MM, 20 meter Band Panel button will default to 14.200 MHz, and conversely when the Band Map window is closed when N1MM is closed, then, the next time N1MM is started, the 20 meter Band Panel button will be at the last used frequency.

I don't have a solution to the problem, but at least I can have a way to prevent it from giving me any more problems.

You need additional software to convert the I/Q data coming from the radio into spectrum data that can be displayed by N1MM+, such as N2IC's Waterfall Bandmap program (<https://groups.io/g/waterfallbandmap>).

John,

See the Logger+ manual, Supported Radios, TS-590 text.

In Logger+ Audio the Internal Radio Codec needs to be checked and the radio codec MIC and Speaker devices.

In the radio baud rate window select SSB PTT via radio command, and set the radio for 57600 baud via the USB cable. The document contained in the text will help with the radio configuration for 57600 baud USB cable use. Don’t select the legacy audio player.

We are looking for someone to update the TS-590 USB setup document for USB radio control, voice recording, playback, and digital modes. Contact me directly if you are willing to help. The document has snapshots from the legacy program and instructions to use the legacy audio player.

When you "closed at 22:00" did you leave N1MM running? This looks like a database problem which may have happened if Microsoft inflicted a Windows Update on you in the middle of the night and N1MM was running.

Look in your Documents\N1MM Logger+\Databases directory for the database you were using. The database will end with the suffix .S3DB. Check to see if there are files with the same database name but the suffixes .SHM and .WHL.

Send those files to me as email attachments - K8UT@...

I am playing around in the CQ WPX SSB contest. Using the Spectrum window causes a problem. I get the freqyency window 7000-7030 and can't figure out how to change it to the SSB portion of the band. Tried + and -  in the left of the spectrum window without response.

80 meters band is as bad as 40 meters.

Using last version of N1MM. Rig is IC-7300.
Any idea?

Sorry, but I can't find this. If you mean the QSO Entry window, File->Import doesn't offer that as one of the 4 choices.

Searching the online manual for "Editor window" doesn't find it.

Kari,

I do what Any/KU7T does to switch my paddles, but there is no 1-button press for the mic....that I know of.

I don't do very much SSB these days, and only *just* started using 2 Keyboards, but I believe only either CTRL_(left/right) Arrow
key will switch focus (without transmitting) as you know.

The other things are function keys.  ie: Enter(ESM), F1, F2 etc.

I believe you are perhaps looking for a way to transmit using your real voice and to get one radio or the other queued up and "ready" to transmit something you need to speak.

That's a tough one.

Too bad there wasn't a "magic" button on the keyboard that says "take focus and get ready to transmit here!"...that's what you (and I) need I think.

I use a footswitch, but that doesn't make it any easier.

GL - I'll be watching this thread.

The program asks if you want to download and install the file.
Simply click "NO" and select your local file.

I didn't see anything that insisted that I use the sample file.

Re: CWOPS.mc file

HI John

You're not doing anything wrong. The website query for a function key file is a soft query: if the filename starts with the contest name "CWOPS" and ends with ".MC" it considers that a successful find. This soft query was an intentional means of allowing the file to have naming suffixes like CWOPS2020.MC. Unfortunately, CWOPSOPEN.MC meets that criteria. There will be a fix in next Tuesday's release that first searches with an exact search followed by a soft search. {amazing that this bug had not been reported already?}

In the meantime, you can force the file selection of CWOPS.MC in the Editor window by choosing >File >Import and Assign a different file.
