Re: SntNR 001 twice

Steve,
Here's what happened:
1. I updated N1MM+ to 1.0.7342.0 from whatever the latest version was at the time of SS CW.
2. I ceated a new log for SS SSB in an existing database called Sweepstakes that contained the SS CW sweeps log.
3. Entered first QSO in contest SERNO 1
4. Entered 2nd QSO in contest SERNO 1
I was running  so both Q's were on the same frequency and nothing changed from one to the other.  N1MM was in Run.
I used an external voice keyer, so N1MM+ function keys were not exercised.

I just now tried to reproduce the problem by creating a new SS SSB log (with different start time) in the same database.  CND
I tried in both Run and S&P modes, but still couldn't duplicate.

I created a new test database and a SS SSB test log in it.  CND

I'm baffled.  Could using an existing database that was created under an earlier revision with a new log have caused the problem?

Well I figured it out. Somehow WTX posted twice as a mult. I also discovered I had logged SDG as SD the first time I logged it. The QSO count total difference was due to a dupe.

Date: Sunday, November 18, 2018
Subject: [wsjtgroup] Reminder: FT8 mock contest tomorrow
To: wsjtgroup@...

A one-hour "practice contest" will be held tomorrow using the FT8 mode
and the ARRL RTTY Roundup rules.

Tuesday, November 20, 0200-0300 UTC (Monday evening, NA time)

Dial frequency 7.078 MHz (and higher, in 2 kHz increments, if too much
QRM). Secondary dial frequency, especially for those in other parts of
the world: 14.078 MHz.

Everyone works everyone.

To participate you must use WSJT-X 2.0.0-rc4. Installation packages for
Windows, Linux, and macOS can be found near the bottom of this web page:
https://physics.princeton.edu/pulsar/k1jt/wsjtx.html

Note that this Release Candidate 4 ("RC4") is a beta-test version. A
full release of WSJT-X 2.0 is targeted for release on December 10, 2018.

A revised Quick-Start Guide to WSJT-X 2.0 for RC4 is posted here:
https://physics.princeton.edu/pulsar/k1jt/Quick_Start_WSJT-X_2.0.pdf

Be sure to read this entire document before using WSJT-X 2.0. There
have been many changes since RC3.

IMPORTANT FOR THE MOCK CONTEST:

1. On the *Settings | Advanced* tab, be sure to check the
*Special operating activity* and *ARRL RTTY Roundup* options. In the
field labeled "Exch" enter the 2- or 3-letter abbreviation for your
state or province (US/Canadian stations) or DX if you are not in the US
or Canada.

2. Be sure that 7.078 and 14.078 appear in your drop-down frequency list
for FT8 mode. You might need to do a *Reset* on the *Settings |
Frequencies* tab. If the sub-band starting at 7.078 becomes
over-crowded we suggest moving to higher dial frequencies in 2 kHz
increments: 7.080, 7.082, etc. Type Ctrl+Shift+F12 to move up by 2 kHz,
Ctrl+Shift+F11 to move down by 2 kHz. You might want to change
Bins/Pixel or adjust the width of the Wide Graph so as to limit the
range of frequencies displayed to 0 - 2000 Hz.

3. Do not use a compound or nonstandard callsign in this event.

Note that planning is underway for other FT8 contests to be held in the
next few months.

FT8 Roundup: December 1-2, 2018, see
https://www.rttycontesting.com/ft8-roundup/rules/ for detsils.

The ARRL RTTY Roundup, January 5-6 2018: FT8 is encouraged, as well as RTTY

Post results and comments here so we can all learn from an actual FT8
contest-like experience. If you are not already subscribed, you may
wish to join the email list wsjt-devel:
https://sourceforge.net/p/wsjt/mailman/?source=navbar
That list is the best way to communicate directly with the WSJT
Development Group.

A Different Serial Number Issue

Joe WB9SBD

In SS this weekend, when we got going just screaming along making contacts, then someone noticed in the log the serial numbers were all messed up.

It was missing numbers, We'd make a contact and it would assign 1
next contact 2
next contact 4
next contact 5
next 7
next 13

The only fix we found was to trash that log completely and start totally over with a whole new log.

Any ideas as to what would cause that?

Hello Steve, Dan

My third experience with a double 001 ....

Sequence (now pretty exactly documented):

I opened N1MM+, it came up with the LZDX-log (last station WKD was D41CV
on 14 MHz CW).

(Today) I set up a New Log for OK1WC Memorial (MWC) initially for 40M CW
LOW for OH3BCX.

Rig and PC not connected. I sent out 599 001 with the paddle for the
first QSO. Logged it.
Then sent 599 002 for the second QSO. Logged it (ENTER)... it logged 599
001 (double 001)!
Then I continued to log before sending... fortunately it started show
the increment, so I
sent 599002 out for the third QSO... and continued this way following
the N1MM+ numbering.

When preparing the Cabrillo, I edited the second QSO for 599 002 (while
it was still 599 001
in the log and thus also in the Cabrillo output). I do not know if it is
possible to edit
sent numbers "in flight", the way wrongly received serials are corrected
with ease...

sorry I haven't understood.

I'm reporting here a difference between fldigi waterfall and n1mm of 5 kHz, i don't see how a change in 10 Hz in sweet spot could change the situation.
I have understood that RTTY normal mode is LSB, sweet spot using  fldigi in stand alone fashion is correct, in n1mm is different...

You have to do one more step, Guy. When you open a file in a database - like when you're setting up to run SS, for instance - look for the associated files tab. That's where you state what macro files, what scp you wish to use, etc.

SPLIT in FT-891 can be enabled/disabled via CAT. There is a bug in documentation (docs says, that CAT commands to enable/disable SPLIT are SQ1; and SQ0; but it enables/disables SQUELCH, right commands are ST1; and ST0;  and ST; is a query about SPLIT status).

Summary of split/rit CAT commands (full documentation is available at: yaesu.com->Products->HF Transceivers->FT-891->Files->FT-891 CAT Operation Reference Book, remind the SQ/ST bug :D):

ST; - query if SPLIT is set ON or OFF (answer: ST0; - OFF, ST1; - ON)
ST0; - SPLIT OFF
ST1; - SPLIT ON
ST2; - SPLIT + 5kHz
QS; - quick SPLIT
AB; - copy VFO A to VFO B
BA; - copy VFO B to VFO A
SV; - swap VFO
IF; - main VFO information
OI; - opposite VFO infotmation
RC; - RIT/CLARIFIER clear
RUxxxx; - RIT xxxx Hz UP
RDxxxx; - RIT xxxx Hz DOWN

Re: Recording Numbers in .wav

John Bednar

Scott,

Audio delay is dependent on your computer bus, soundcard bus efficiency, and other factors. Some combinations have low latency and others have delays.

Number fragment lookup does not exist. The solution is to use the Logger+ Audio wav file concatenation. There are wav file requirements when using the concatenation that I explained last week in an email. This method completely eliminates the computer based file to file delay.

John,

Thank you for the reply. I have it set up per the instructions and it works great.

This is what I'm trying to accomplish, for example if the exchange was 176, mine says One Hundred seventy six like it should, but even though I have the numbers clipped with Audacity tight, there is a delay between the 7 and 6. I was wondering if I took the time to record "seventysix" if N1MM+ would be able to recognize it instead of using the 7.wav and 6.wav. If not, it's not a problem. It was nice not to really have to use my voice all weekend.
