Re: MMTTY / 2TONE windows pausing - Update

Bob - KØRC

UPDATE:

I back tracked to version 7000 (Jan 2018) with similar results. It appears this has been the way it has worked for a year. I haven't spent much radio time during this period, especially RTTY, so I will try to adjust to the way it works now.

"It would be nice" if there were a switch that allowed the automatic pause to be disabled but retain the ability to click the left window bar to pause the decoding. If I have overlooked that setup step, please let me know. I recently did a complete clean install of Windows 10 on this contesting computer when I replaced the dying HDD with a SSD, so I might be overlooking the obvious!

I don't know if this is a new feature, but it is incredibly irritating that the decode pauses and often truncates the call sign I am about to capture. It creates additional delays when trying to quickly respond to a caller.

Can this behavior be turned off? Or what version N1MM would I need to back-install to suppress this behavior. I am currently using 7422.

Thanks in advance!

Available Window Not Showing Mults?

Fred - NA2U

Just set up RTTY Roundup file. I have worked no one yet. The Available Mults/Qs window is only showing DX stations as mults when at the beginning they should ALL be mults. Suggestions?

WSJT-X will not transfer calls to N1MM Log Entry

Irwin Darack

I thought I would play around with the FT8 in the RTTY RU Contest. I followed the instructions in the N1MM website (2.6.18 WSJT-X Decode Window) Everything seems to be set up correctly in WSJT-X and N1MM? I have the WSJT-X Decode window working and able to click on a spot in the window and it transmits in FT8, etc.

After working the station, it logs the QSO in the FT8 Contest Log, but does not transfer the call to the N1MM Log Entry Window.

Not sure what I have set up wrong?

Thanks, Irwin

I went back to .7403 which came on on Christmas Day. Ran it last night in RTTY Roundup practice and it worked fine.

RTTY mode of course.

See you in a few hours!

To be specific, the exchange for this conest was ITU zone.  Those are correct, but in the .adif, the CQ zone is shown as identical to the ITU zone.  Who knows how to correct this?

Re: N1MM logger.ini.Saturday.ini question

Rich, I found the Saturday.ini.bak file (my error in the subject of this post) dated today, no problem.  The error screen says to "...go to your N1MM installation folder and copy one of the N1MM Logger.ini.[DayofWeek].bak files to N1MM Logger.ini."  My question is:  which is the "installation folder" and where is the N1MM Logger.ini file located?

Re: N1MM logger.ini.Saturday.ini question

The file in question is called n1mm logger.ini.Saturday.bak, and it is located in your Documents\N1MM Logger+ folder, as is the regular n1mm logger.ini file.

If your File Explorer is set to the silly default "Hide extensions for known file types", then change that - in File Explorer, select View, then Options > Change folder and search options, and under the View tab, uncheck the "Hide extensions for known file types" check box. If you then select View > Details, you will see a list of all files in the currently selected folder, complete with file name extension, date last modified and file size information, all of which are helpful in determining which file is the right one to use.

Yuri Gagarin zone issue

George W1EBI

This zone issue was reported back in 2014.  Something about a conversion.  I played in the 2018 GCUP using v1.0.7161.0 and the zones are apparently still fouled up, which fouled up my CQ DX Marathon scoresheet.  Wasn't this issue corrected?

Re: FLDIGI audio problem

ve3ki

This has nothing to do with the changes for WSJT. Have you read the N1MM+ manual instructions for using fldigi with N1MM+?

Where is fldigi located? If you have installed it under C:\Program Files(x86), it will be unable to save its settings. The copy you run from N1MM+ must be located somewhere that is not write-protected, in order to be able to save its configuration settings for use with N1MM+.

The settings in N1MM+ are not the same as the settings for stand-alone. Rig control is not handled by fldigi, it is handled by N1MM+. Set the rig control in the N1MM+ copy of fldigi, while it is being run from within N1MM+, to XML-RPC.

If there are no signals in the waterfall, that is a symptom of incorrect sound card settings and has nothing to do with rig control. Because the configurations for stand-alone and for under N1MM+ are independent, you must set the sound card settings for the N1MM+ copy from fldigi while it is running from within N1MM+. Settings that you set up stand-alone will not carry over to the N1MM+ version.

Also FLDIGI when started by MM+ loses the rig settings and I have to go into the radio tab and initialize radio every time the DI window is opened.

Should I go back to an earlier version of MM+ for RTTY RU.  If so where are the files and can this be done without losing all my settings?  Thanks

Re: Freq for FT8 RU

ERIC OLSON

And you need to add the contest FT8 frequencies to the WSJT list: 3.590, 7.080, 7.082, 14.103, 14.132 etc. etc. per section 4.6 of the online WSJT-X 2.0 User Guide.

The recommended FT8 frequencies for the ARRL RTTY Roundup are published the FT8 article in January WST:

http://www.arrl.org/files/file/ContestResults/2019/January%202019%20QST%20-%20Taylor%20-%20FT8.pdf

I believe the intention is for the first base frequency to be the lower boundary of the sub-band and each subsequent base frequency to be 2 kHz higher.  Activity will determine how many base frequencies get used.  I suspect only 1-2 per band based on experience in the FT8 Roundup last month.

Re: Freq for FT8 RU

Joe Taylor suggested frequencies at <http://www.arrl.org/files/file/ContestResults/2019/January%202019%20QST%20-%20Taylor%20-%20FT8.pdf>. There have also been suggestions to use frequencies above 7100 kHz on 40m, or below 3580 kHz on 80m, if there is a lot of RTTY in the suggested areas (<https://groups.io/g/N1MMLoggerPlus/message/38790>).

When you select the band in WSJT-X, the frequency is set and displayed in the WSJT-X window.
