Re: County Line Macro?

WA7SKG <wa7skg@...>

Things happen for various reasons that will result in needing to restart N1MM. It is not restarting the computer that is the issue, it is restarting the N1MM application. It might happen 4 or 5 or more times during a weekend contest. I want to restart and get back on the air as soon as possible. I'm just filling a box with static information that the program is unable to remember over a restart. There is no "new" information. It is always the same for the duration of the contest. No psychic abilities needed.

What I have now done to speed the process is have a small text file open in a Notepad window with the information. Then I just do a copy and paste. But it would still be nice if I could just click a macro button to do the same thing.

Do you mean non-7 stations dropped county? Sorry, I should have mentioned that I'm in Seattle, Washington...been here so long it feels like home. I was working MS at K7RI, also in Seattle, and that's the behavior I observed. That's why the program said I was incorrect to select IN7QPNE. But when I ignored the warning it logged everything correctly. I intend to submit our log to all four QPs, so I wanted it logged correctly. I had to create 2 QSOs for one of the New England people on a county line...slows down the run. We got a certificate from NEQP for last year and didn't even realize we had entered...guess 7QP shared logs with the others. Definitely something wrong...plenty of time to correct it...

So I was manually editing the QSOs to add the county each time I worked one in a different QP. Wasn't that many. I was working at a multi-op station, so when I got home I opened up a log and selected IN7QPNE. A message came up saying I was incorrect...I dismissed the message, left the setting alone, entered a few dummy QSOs, and was able to log full exchanges for all the contests. The points and mults seemed to be correct. I know this update was a rush job, so I expect a few glitches in a complex situation logging 4 contests at once.

15 seconds without data from the radio is typically plenty long.

Be careful when you log QSO's, make sure the frequency is correct.

Hi Michael,

OK, you're right - I don't understand the question. (hi)

Why don't you just put your computer into hibernate mode?

Also - how would the program "know" where your new location was ? ;-)  I mean, it's an awesome program, but it's not psychic?
(ie: I don't know how you'd program a macro to do what you're expecting.

Sorry - not much help.  I guess I really don't understand !

73 es be safe out there.  The 7's are pretty weak here.

Re: County Line Macro?

WA7SKG <wa7skg@...>

Sorry, Mike, you are clearly not understanding my question. When operating as an Expedition and on a County Line, each time I restart the program, I must enter COUNTYLINE in the entry box. Then a box pops up into which I enter my county line, i.e. "ORCRO,ORWHE". What I was hoping for was the ability to program a macro which, when pressed, would accomplish that task. That would allow setting things up in one or two seconds instead of up to a minute or more.

Thanks for your time,

Michael WA7SKG

Re: County Line Macro?

VE9AA - Mike

http://n1mm.hamdocs.com/tiki-index.php?page=Setup+QSO+Parties+-+CW+and+SSB&highlight=countyline
N1MM Logger supports Rover/Mobile and County Line operation and for QSO party contests, the software contains features allowing the home station to quickly log the County Line station
The {ROVERQTH} macro, when placed in your F-key messages will alway send the current RoverQTH string. If, for example, your F2 key is defined as "5NN{ROVERQTH}", the macro will substitute the RoverQTH operating location in place of {ROVERQTH}. The operating location will also appear in the Log window for each QSO. If the {COUNTYLINE} macro (explained below) is included in the F-key message it will be ignored when the program is in rover mode. This allows a station to operate as a rover and county line station during the same QSO party without editing the F-key messages.

etc etc

County Line Macro?

WA7SKG <wa7skg@...>

Right now, whenever I have to restart the program, I have to enter COUNTYLINE in the Entry block, then enter the county line (ORCRO,ORWHE) in the box. It sure would be nice to be able to program this into a macro for quick one-button entry of this data. Perhaps being able to also set up a macro to enter the operator would be handy as well.

Configuartion of N1MM with K3 Remote

Charles N2SO

Hi,

I recently installed a private K3-Remote System using my existing K3 and adding a K3/Ø Mini Control Panel. I have the RRIGSET and all required cables installed. I have tested the system and it appears to work well as I can both hear and control the remote radio and send CW on my straight key plugged into the back of the K3/Ø.

I would like to add the N1MM contest program using windows 10 Lap Top locally with a USB cable running from the USB socket on the front of the RRC to my Lap Top. I have configured both RRCs COM1 to: “Mode-7 CAT to COM2 (local & remote)”.  The serial setting for COM1 has been set “Use USB Com Port as COM1” to YES. COM3 (extra) mode has been set to “Mode -8 Winkeyer”.

RRC 1258 Ø (COM 1)

RRC 1258 1(COM 11)

RRC 1258 2 (COM 12)

RRC 1258 3 COMExtra (COM 2)

So far I have been unable to configure N  1MM to communicate with my K3 remote. COM 11 doesn’t work and COM12 produces unsolicited and random CW transmissions. COM2 make no difference.  Interestingly, I can use my K3 remote with SKCCLogger with COM2. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Yea thanks, I found that the oddball is the ARI causing you to have to modify the QSO with the correct exchange after the QSO.

Al

ROVERQTH feature request

andy.zwirko@...

Currently to update a location in VHF contests, grid squares, or State QSO Parties, counties & independent cities (C&IC), one must manually interact with the logger through keystrokes and/or mouse clicks.  As someone who operates a multi-op rover with multiple laptops in both types of contests AND while in motion, it would be nice to have a mechanism to programmatically update the location over the network.  My idea would be to allow for a UDP message carrying the typical ROVERQTH text normally entered in the call sign field, be it grid square or C&IC, to be sent and accepted by the program .

For one, this would allow for updating all computers on the network in the vehicle, without having to sit down at each one and ensure the locations are in sync.  More importantly though, this opens the door for allowing for a third-party application to calculate and broadcast location information (grid square or C&IC) based on real-time GPS data.  This is already done in the NO5W CQ/X contest logger program for State QSO Parties and in the N1MU RoverLog program for V/UHF and microwave contests.

I've been working with Rich K3FRG and he's come up with a cross platform app to provide the needed ROVERQTH location data, see source here:

https://github.com/ufergus/arGeoDetector

He'll be posting binary installers to SourceForge shortly.

Currently the app is just printing C&IC or grid square text to the operator's screen.  His app uses GPS NMEA data along with public KML, state county outlines and a boundary test algorithm to determine when one is in a C&IC, as well as the standard grid square algorithm based on lat/lon.  It would be great to have this info passed right into N1MM+ for a hands off location updating capability similar to other loggers mentioned above.

Thanks for your consideration & 73
