Thanks Gary,

Ran version 7658 yesterday as the 7QP QSO Party from WA and it worked great except I ran into one oddity with a county line report from Indiana.  Exchanges like UTWAY/SEV and NVNYE/CHU/LAN/WAS worked great and all counties were added with the respective state.  However when I received INWRN/FOU the program reported FOU was not valid and didn’t log it.  I had to enter his call again with INFOU to get the second one.  Same thing happened later with INHOW/TPT.  I just tested these on a second computer and database (with ver 7658) and get the same results.  If they are entered as INWRN/INFOU and INHOW/INTPT both log automatically.  Am I missing something in the rules or instructions or is this an issue?

Thanks,

Eric N7EPD

Hi Bruce, I do not know if such a utility exists. Perhaps someone will come up with something.

With N1MM+ providing the IN7QPNE 4-QSO Party combined module, it seems like other N1MM+ users will be asking about how to report their results on 3830Scores. I used the IN7QPNE module in last year's running of the QP's when it combined three QP's, however I don't recall that I tried to submit the combined log to 3830Scores. DEQP was added to the module this year.

Thanks for your interest, and your support of 3830Scores.

I will, however, submit the combined Cabrillo file to the four individual QP sponsors.

You can easily parse the log with the app from K0RC as mentioned here earlier today...I expect it to take me ~3 minutes (famous last words!)

Inertia, Jim. Before Cabrillo, dupes were penalized. Now they don't matter...just work 'em and move on. Waste more time telling the other station it's a dupe than working them. In 7QP I had a dupe QSO just 20 minutes after the first Q, so I assumed I was mis-copied the first time.

Thanks to Mitch DJ0QN we worked out that one of the N1MM settings was off by one digit. The stop bits on K3 COM3 port was set at 2 instead of 1. Also we decided to give up on the RRC COM ports and instead installed the Elecraft KUSB interface cable running from COM1 on the front of the control RRC to my Lap Top. Of course that does not install the the Winkey Emulator, but hey when all else fails there's always the reliable straight key!
As also pointed out by Dennis W1UE, there is even a work around for that involving the use of the small MORTTY CW keyer which can be plugged into the remote system to accomplish the same thing.

Thanks to all who read my original post and wondered how to help.

Re: Error?

Riki, K7NJ

John,

No, I wasn't using the spectrum scope in N1MM Logger.  I prefer CW Skimmer with its remarkable resolution and being able to visually read CW messages received up to several seconds in the past.

The computer is custom built with an Intel Core I7 CPU. The OS is Windows 7 Professional 32 bit.  It has 4 GB of available RAM. A 256 GB Samsung SSD is the main C: drive.

I don’t recall if event logging (debugging) was enabled in the past. When I did the V 1.0.7170 install, I began from scratch - downloading the Full Install and the update - then after deleting the old installation (using Control Panel), I installed the new ones - one after the other. I painstakingly rebooted the computer after each step of this process.

Perhaps I wasn't clear enough in describing the effect of the problem.  I was using ESM. Short messages were usually (but not always) OK. Some of the longer ones (e.g. CQ with my call repeated twice) would have problems (just on a portion of the message) including: skipping some characters or spaces, and poor timing. Sometimes, the message would repeat when this was not called for.  The worst thing that happened was when the message would repeat endlessly like in a loop. I was able to lessen these effects by changing a full space to two half spaces (~ sign). Also, I reasoned that maybe something wasn't clearing in the memory after completing a message so I added a ~ at the end of each ESM message.

I won't be able to spend any significant time on this for now, but certainly will look into this further towards a future contest.  If you like, I can send you (separately) the LogError.txt file.

Thanks for your invaluable assistance.

Subject: [N1MMLoggerPlus] Next weekend's four QSO Parties

May 4/5 is The Big Weekend for QSO parties: Indiana, New England, 7QP, and Delaware all on the same weekend. They don't all have the same start or end times but there will be activity from 13Z on the 4th to 2359Z on the 5th. With N1MM+ no matter where you are, you can run all four at the same time in the same log.

Here's how. If you are inside one of the four, start a new log, pick QSOParty and then select your state from the drop-down list. If you are anywhere else, select IN7QNE as your "state". These parties permit county line operation. Enter their whole exchange,  i.e. IDWAS/ORMAL and N1MM turns it  into two log lines for proper scoring.  Remember that each time a mobile enters a new county he is considered a new station. This is another reason to copy their whole exchange.

Each of these five "state" choices use the same multiplier list so when you enter an exchange like WORMA from New England, ORDES from 7QP, INMAD from Indiana, or KDE from Delaware, N1MM will give you the proper credit. That is, you'd get an MA credit as a 7QP participant and the guy in MA gets his Oregon credit. The beauty of all this comes at the end of the weekend. Simply send your Cabrillo file to all four of the sponsors. That's it. They will score your log and disregard any non-counting contacts.

N1MM and MORTTY for CW

Bob Schofield

I am having a problem getting the MORTTY to work CW with N1MM.

Setup:
FT1000MP Mk V (200 Watt)
Computer
N1MM
MORTTY (Just recently purchased and was put together by someone other then  me as I would have no idea how to do that.)

the MORTTY indicates it is set for CW as I do see the HI from reading the lights as they flash on and off.

I have read the documentation in N1MM to setup Winkey and tried to set it up like that.

The MORTTY came with CW installed.

I am connecting the device to the rear CW jack on my FT1K using a TSR cable (commercial) with the step up to 1/4 in at the radio.  the same cable I used with my Rigblaster PnP device to generate CW, that works.

When I go through the setup and I key the radio I get (KA) sent in CW but no break between the K and A, it sends( -.-.- ), then it stops, if I press f4 to send my call it just sends alternating dahs and dits for each character until finished.

I have tried the rear jack, which by passes the electronic keyer, and I have that turned off.  I have also tried it with the electronic keyer on, and I have tried the front jack which uses the electronic keyer, and I get the same results, no matter what, except sometimes I get four dahs and no dits.

I did not build the cable as per the diagram as I tried the commercially purchased one first.  But I do have the jacks plugs and wire to build one.  Maybe that is what I need to do.

I have also tried it with Logger32 and no luck at all, there.

Any suggestions or help greatly appreciated.

I'll be submitting the log from K7RI tomorrow, so I'll go over it to make sure my manual edits didn't mess it up. Tom, you are the master. The counties are in the Misc column and they show up in the Cabrillo file. It even works for county line stations in all parties, generating multiple Q's. I'll know to check the Misc column next time. Thank you so much.

Mike,

You are correct about the rules...we don't get mults for 7th district counties; we do have to log the county correctly. The issue is that when 7QP is selected for 7th district stations, N1MM won't log the county for stations outside the 7th District, which I /would/ get credit for in those respective QPs. I enter the full 5-character exchange in the contact window and N1MM truncates it to state-only when logged, because that's all 7QP requires. Have to manually edit each QSO from the other three QPs to get mult credit for those. If I select IN7QPNE I get an error message, presumably because N1MM won't score it correctly, but it /will/ log complete exchanges for all QPs. So I can either do manual edits on the fly or I can have an incorrect score shown by N1MM. If I could select 7QP /and/ log counties for other districts all would be roses...*it needs to log a 5-character exchange for any QSO*. We're a multi-single (K7RI) and make about 1500 Q's in this test; manual editing on the fly slows us down. Not knowing our score is also not good. I know it's a complex situation with 4 QPs and I appreciate the N1MM team's efforts.

Are counties mults for 7-land stations? The rules don't say anything about scoring counties for (in-State) 7-landers. (which is common for most QSO parties)

*Scoring:* 2 points per SSB QSO, 3 points per CW QSO, */4 points per Digital QSO/*. County-line contacts count as multiple QSOs for both stations.

*7th area stations multiply total QSO points by the total of states (50), provinces (13) and other DXCC entities (maximum of 10). *

Non-7th-area stations multiply total QSO points by 7th area counties worked (259).
