After the past weekend's VA QSO Party was over, I noticed a discrepancy in the mutiplier count which resulted in an inflated score. The total number of countries  as shown in the, Counties/other, State/Sections (VE provinces) and Countries windows was 185. However in the score summary window the total number of mults was 211, which is 26 mults more than the true number worked. In checking the "M1" column, there were red check marks for all 15 JA stations worked. I haven't checked farther, but there are probably erroneous check marks for possibly other DX stations worked.

So instead of a 347,517 score it should be 304,695.

I downloaded latest version v.1.0.8269.0 today and it still scored the 2020 VQP incorrectly.

I've spend days with very good help working to have a TS-590SG connect with a laptop and a winkeyer.

I can change bands on the computer with the radio or vice versa. The red button on the winkeyer will call CQ on the radio. I can NOT send CW from the keyboard.

Device manager shows Com 6 and Com 4. I have the radio on Com 6. I have the winkeyer on Com 4, and perhaps configured correctly.

When I get going, a window keeps coming up and saying that Com 5 is missing. What and why should there be a Com 5?

Please help me if you can.

If your computer is talking with your WinKeyer, I believe the buttons on top are disabled. (been a while since I used a Winkeyer here @ Home)

See the photo I just posted.  Do you have that box checked?

This is on my home PC (not a radio PC) so don't take all the settings as Verbatim.

Re: UDP Periodic Broadcasts

Larry K8UT

Chuck,

The interval between RadioInfo UDP broadcasts when the VFO is idle is 10 seconds. When you change critical settings on the radio (particularly mode, band or frequency) a UDP packet is sent instantaneously. This should be sufficient for antenna selection.

I have also written apps for antenna selection and amplifier control that rely upon RadioInfo packet updates. See FreqEZ and FANticipator on this website for details. https://hamprojects.info/ I find the current arrangement satisfactory.

(BTW, my apps lockout changes with the radio is in Tx - an important safeguard if you're designing somethings that switches antennas)

Since the radio would not be changing frequency at the time of antenna selection I rely on a periodic UDP broadcast.  Is there any control over this period and what is the consequence of making the period shorter?

ALT and Y together

Don Murray

Hello Tom..

In the Check Log / Master / Call history box, I use the
ALT and Y together "command" to display the solution in the logging window.

Hitting the ALT and the Y simultaneously requires either some single hand dexterity
or dual hand coordinated tapping.

Is there any possibility of changing the command request from ALT and Y to
ALT and Z, or ALT and X?

These two combinations are very conveniently located, adjacent to one another, and
easily manipulated with one hand.

TNX Tom!  I, as well as all other users of your fantastic N1MM product, appreciate all
that you do for the contesting community!

It sounds as if you have COM5 configured instead of COM4 in the Configurer. If, as verified in Device Manager, your radio control connection is on COM6 and the connection to the Winkeyer is on COM4, then in the Configurer, there should be a line set up for COM6 with the Radio set to TS-590 and the CW/Other check box *not* checked, and another line set up for COM4 with the Radio set to None and the CW/Other check box checked, and with the Winkey check box checked in the port setup window for COM4. There should not be lines in the Configurer for ports that do not exist in your computer.

Be aware that Windows may change these COM port numbers. The COM port settings in Windows are not quite as volatile as sound card assignments, but they can change - so don't expect them to always be the same. Be prepared to change the COM port numbers in the Configurer to match the port assignments in Device Manager if these should change for some reason.
