Re: N1MM+ with Omnirig Virtual Comm Port software?

John, G4DRS

Surely, once the virtual com ports have been created, by Omnirig, or whatever means, you simply need to tell N1MM+ to use a specific virtual port and it does. Does N1MM+ need to know whether it has been created by Omnirig?
Am I missing something?

I know that, for example, I use Microham Router and a Microkeyer to create loads of virtual ports and a couple of bridges(?), and I just reference those port numbers in Logger32, N1MM+, YCCC SO2R Box, NAP3, JTDX, etc.
It all seems to work OK.
I'm not convinced that N1MM+ is even aware that I have the Microham hardware connected, or the Microham software running.

I suppose what I am saying is that, if you haven't already, you should try it, as it may just work.

I presume you mean SDRPlay RSP-1A and that you are using SDRUno as
your SDR software.... in which case you can get round this problem
"quite easily" thus :

Grab yourself a copy of com0com to implement a virtual serial
loopback - you will create two virtual serial ports which are
"internally connected". This will then allow you to configure
SDRUno (or SDRConsole V3) to "pretend" to be a TS-2000 using
one of the virtual ports and you can then configure N1MM+ to
connect to your virtual TS-2000 on the second virtual serial
port. This allows you to QSY by clicking in SDRUno, as well
as SDRUno getting VFO updates from the rig.

The second alternative is to use the RSP-1A ExtIO DLL with
N1MM+ and use the built-in spectrum scope that comes with
N1MM+, negating the need for SDRUno.... whilst this is not
as pretty as SDR Console V3 it has the major advantage that
it can display spots (telnet or local) as well as worked
stations on the spectrum display. The contrast is also considerably
higher on N1MM+'s spectrum display vs SDRConsole... SDRUno sits
somewhere in the middle. This increased contrast helps you to
more easily see signals that are barely perceptible on SDRConsole.
The catch with the RSP-1A on N1MM+ is that there is presently
no way to apply an IF offset, so you need to feed the RSP-1A
with an antenna signal. I believe that limitation is not present
if using the Airspy HF+. Oh, yes, before I forget, DO NOT
set the RSP-1A ExtIO DLL to "Zero IF" when using N1MM+'s spectrum,
it has caused the DLL to hang on transmit in the past! "Low IF"
will be fine....

There are a few logging programs that Omnirig lists as being
compatible with its Virtual Comm Posts function, but not N1MM+.
True, but it has been my experience that having two programs
each trying to control the same rig is an exercise in frustration,
hence the sugggestion of letting SDRUno do that, and then get
N1MM+ to talk to SDRUno rather than the rig itself.

Any chance that N1MM+ may be updated to work with it?
Over to Tom on that one! :)

Pat.

Where is your database file stored?

If it is on the "Cloud" somewhere, that would likely be your problem. If on your hard drive, there might be disk hardware problems, so you should run some disk diagnostic software.

Glad you solved the problem, John.  Can you provide a link to the solution you found online to save a few others the effort of searching?  I tried to find a solution a couple of weeks ago, but was unsuccessful.

Jimmy,

You likely have the radio com port DTR or RTS set for ALWAYS ON.

The radio has a menu item that allows you to define the use of DTR and RTS. You have one of them set for PTT. This is not the default.

The third computer can be either Run1 or Run2. The associated transmitter (if you intend to transmit with it) should be interlocked to prevent two signals from Run1 or Run2 being on the air at once.

If it's just a hot standby it's not critical which you choose as that computer will not be adding QSOs to the log.

You can switch Run1/Run2 for a given computer with a keyboard command that eludes me at the moment.

I am also having problems with getting Airspy HF+ Discovery working in the N1MM spectrum display.

This is my first attempt at trying to run it.
Do I need to change anything as a way of setting up spyserver and N1MM?

I noticed Airsoy server screen says it is listening on 0.0.0.0:5555
N1mm seems to be looking for 127.0.0.0:5555

Is that an issue?

Re: Icom voice memories?

Michael WA7SKG

Absolutely. As long as your software can control the Icom radio and it has voice memories. I'm not sure which all models have this feature. The command 28 is what you want.

For the IC-7300:
FE FE 94 E0 28 00 (00-08) FD [Voice TX Memory]
(00=Stop, 01=T1 to 08=T8)

Unlike the button box that connects to the microphone jack, from software you can trigger all eight memories.

Unfortunately, you cannot have the memories repeat like you can with the button box. You will have to let your software do the repeating.

HTH,

Re: Airspy & Spectrum Scope

I am also having problems with getting Airspy HF+ Discovery working in the N1MM spectrum display.

This is my first attempt at trying to run it.
Do I need to change anything as a way of setting up spyserver and N1MM?

I noticed Airsoy server screen says it is listening on 0.0.0.0:5555
N1mm seems to be looking for 127.0.0.0:5555

Is that an issue?

I'm hoping someone can help me!!
I have the latest version of N1MM & SDRPlay!

When I start N1MM+, Spyserver does not auto start.
Manually start Spyserver
Start N1MM+
Window - Spectrum Display
Right Click Spectrum Display - Airspy HF+
Then I get the following error:

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.
For example:
<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>
When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.
For example:
<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>
When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

What is going on?? Can someone help??

Icom voice memories?

Jamie WW3S

Is there a way for the software to trigger the internal Icom voice memories?

Have installed the N1MM+ software and have done the update. When I startup the program
I configure the ports, radio, etc. The radio then immediately goes into xmit mode. Is there a
setting that I have mis-configured that is causing this? Anyone else have this problem?

OK, thanks Chris. No, won’t be working stations from the third listen-only position. Now I understand that I can have two “RunN” computers.

Thanks, Tom. No interest in working found mults, just band mapping them. But need to get thru specifying Run1 or Run2 which are the actual transmit positions.

There is no multiplier station in M2. You would need to specify Run1 or Run2 at any given time for that station and make sure it doesn't run the band change limit over 8. Assuming each QSO is in the middle of a big run for the corresponding Run1/Run2 station, each QSO will create two band changes for that station. Note that you are responsible to electrically prevent two signals by the same Run1/Run2 station from transmitting at the same time.

*2. Two Transmitters (MULTI-TWO):*A maximum of two transmitted signals on two different bands may be used at any time. The log must indicate which station/signal made each QSO. Each station/signal may make a maximum of 8 band changes in any clock hour (00 through 59 minutes). Total output power must not exceed 1500 watts on any band at any time.

Check DTR/Rts settings on the Config Hardware line for your radio? If it treats either as PTT, that’s what you’d see.
