Nothing displays in Spectrum Display window with Flex radio
Richard Burke
I'm unable to get the N1MM+
Spectrum Display window to show a spectrum. I see that this
situation has been reported in this discussion group before but
I haven't been able to find a solution that works for me. The situation is: Computer running Win 10 Pro
v2004. Flex 6000 series radio remotely controlled (remotehamradio.com). Smart SDR v3.1.12 is running as well as CAT and DAX. DAXIQ Channel 1 is selected in Smart SDR. In the DAX control panel, the IQ
Streams section shows the center frequency, a sample rate of
48000 and "streaming". N1MM+ v 1.0.8560.0 communicates with Smart SDR (freq and mode are good). Entry window title bar shows radio to be FLEX-6000 Series Slice 1. N1MM+ Spectrum Display window
shows Unamed Scope Spectrum (Radio 1) in title bar. If I
go to Spectrum Source / For all other radios, source named - it
just shows an empty entry box. I've tried entering FLEX-6000
Series and FLEX-6000 Series Slice 1 to no avail. Any ideas? Tnx, Dick, K7RB

Spot it Button
John Muzyka
Just a quick question if some one knows the answer, on the logging screen under the F key buttons is a button that says SPOT IT which it does just that it spots the station you are working, my question is can you edit the information it give and not just CW I have right clicked (like you do on the F keys) to try and edit the info to say the name of the contest but there is no edit on a right click, is this hidden in the Config file somewhere?? Cheers John G4RCG

Just so I understand for sure, all of your configuration settings (ports, winkey setup, mode control, etc. are gone? Or just that it no longer opens your default database?

Al,
My .s3db files are still there, but when I open N1MM from the desktop, it defaults like I have never set anything up. Isn't there a way I can Post past that and grab the original image and open it normally? This one is kicking my.... Behind. Its one of those days...

Sent: Thursday, August 13, 2020 at 12:30 PM It isn’t really an error message. It is the same dialog that appears any time you start N1MM+ when there is no database pointer yet in the .ini file or that pointer is invalid. You have the option to create a new one from an old N1MM Classic .mdb file, create a new blank database, or open an existing .s3db file.
Browse the database directory to make sure your database is actually there and try to open that. If you still get the message, then it is corrupt.

Danny, Hey Mike,
Thanks for the input. I was just going by what the pop up box was stating...using the .INI files as reference. I did not try Creating a New date base yet, as the box says if the error shows like it did, that it is likely corrupt. I tried the suggested fix as shown in the box but again, it did not resolve the issue. When I try copying the .BAK file in to the main .INI file, it will not take...its like the Main N1MM Logger.INI file is Locked down.
I know Rich is familiar with this issue, Im hoping he can respond as well...

I have tried to hold the push to talk switch (foot switch) down but as soon as and N1MM gives the command, the push to talk is overridden to OFF.

Re: Special WAE Coloring..
Rich Seifert
The bandmap would be deluged with non-workable stations if I displayed USA/Asian/etc. during a contest like WAE.
I find that it just clutters up the bandmap, particularly if I have worked hundreds (or thousands) of stations (all of which are now non-workable).
And, since I only display spots originating from my region (Western US/CA), if there is someone on the frequency, I will hear them (and avoid calling CQ on top of them) even if they aren’t showing in the bandmap. Rich KE1B

Choosing "create new database" did not work? Was there an issue before this popup? Re: Query from TZ4AM on need to add CW column on data entry window
Jeff in Mali:
Hi Rich:
These all the error messages I got as I followed through your process.
"“Reload
\supportFiles\wl_cty.dat.complete”
Msg Set up your station data on config station.
DONE
Installed new
version
Error message You must change database name
Closed restarted.
Long error thread came up.
Restarted; opened
with Phone col ONLY
Error message: A
possible error has occurred [UpdateContestingGrid]. Please stop and restart
N1MM… And inform dev. Team
Tried to set up
contest and labeled as DX. Does not give me the OK. I go to files page and just
click OK and it gives error messages saying strings are not there."
But when I completed your process I got an empty data base.
I then reopened my log going back to 2015 and it appears complete, including the last contact.
I followed your instructions contained in an earlier email for contest definition and got CW and phone columns instead of just phone.
Thank you for your kindness and considerable help.
I may be back later to figure out how to log FT8 contacts. People want me to get on FT8 and not knowing how to log contacts is part of the reason that I haven't gotten on.
If you need Mali on any band, pls let me know and we can sked.

Select that option and then click on "OK". If the program starts up normally, including all your configuration, radio control settings, etc., except that you have an empty database with no contacts and no contest logs in it, then the original problem was caused by a corrupted database file. In such cases, switching to a backup ini file will not do any good, because using the backup ini file the program will try to open the original (corrupted) database file and that will fail.
If this is what has happened, there are ways to recover the data in the corrupted database that we can help you with. A common cause for damaged or corrupted database files is the use of cloud syncing programs like OneDrive and Google Drive. If one of these programs is allowed to make a backup or sync your database file while the N1MM+ program has that database file open, the backup or synced copy will likely be corrupted. The folder in which your database files are stored should be excluded from any such automated backup or cloud storage procedure. Make backups of your database files, but do it manually, and only when the N1MM+ program is not running, never when N1MM+ is open. If the program starts up with a new database file but all of your configuration settings (mostly the settings in the Configurer) are gone, then the problem was probably a missing or damaged .ini file. In this situation, what you can try is this: 1. Close down N1MM+; none of the rest of this will work if the program is open when you do it; 2. If there is a file named "n1mm logger.ini" (make sure Windows File Explorer is set to show file name extensions, otherwise the file name will look like just "n1mm logger"), and rename that file to something else, like "n1mm logger.ini.bak"; 3. Find one of the day of the week.bak files from a date *before* you started having problems; 4. Make a copy of that file and rename it to just n1mm logger.ini . 5. Start up N1MM+. If this works, the problem was a missing or damaged ini file, and starting from the backup file was all that was needed. Check to make sure that the correct database file and contest log is open and you should be good to go. 73, Rich VE3KI On Wed, Aug 12, 2020 at 09:59 AM, Jeff in Mali: wrote:
