I have been playing with Call History files.
There is a neat companion program for Writelog called WL Friends, that lets you create a separate Friend file and display it in a window.
It is separate from the Friend file and any Prefill (Call History) files.
Is there a way to use a Call History file and have a separate Friend list that can also be displayed with N1MM?

Tom,

I still cannot get N1MM Rotor to respond to Alt-J commands with this new version.
It works fine if I select a bearing button.

Everything else seems to work OK for me in this new version.

Frustrating.

Ideas?

I operated 40M single band only.  The first OK station I worked logged correctly but I worked an additional 8-9 OK stations.  According to the summery score sheet I only got OK credit for one qso.  I am using the latest version of n1mm+, updating just before starting the contest.

Re: N1MM Companion Lookup Software?

You can use a Call History file for this. You could have a pure "friends" file (nothing in it but calls and names), or you could have some records that had contest exchanges in them and others that did not, all in the same file. You can also put additional information (like tags for clubs you both belong to) in the User Text field. Fields that are not used in the current contest, including the User Text field, are displayed near the bottom of the Entry window but not used to prefill the contest exchange. See <http://n1mmplus.hamdocs.com/tiki-index.php?page=Call+History+and+Reverse+Call+History+Lookup&structure=N1MM+Logger+Documentation> for details.

Re: Lost Mults in OK RTTY

Richard,

It seems that you have a good cabrillo file, so the log should be accepted by the sponsors and scored correctly. However, it would still be nice to know what went wrong and how to avoid it in the future.

Since you mentioned that the score window also indicated a problem with the log, can you compare QSOs on 40 and 20 by looking at the QSO records in the log window to see what might have gone wrong?

eg) Select a contact & right click for "Edit Contact". Look for differences between logging a good QSO and the 40m QSO with problems.

You could also try a Tools/Rescore Current Contest to see if that makes any difference.

Hi Gerald.

Yes, the log correctly indicated the 40M QSOs as RY in the Cabrillo file.

Though 17 OKs were worked on 40M, the score window said that 0 (zero) OKs had been worked on that band. However 20M and 15M showed that OKs had been worked and had the correct number of them in the score window.

My XYL, K5DU, operated the OK DX RTTY Contest this past weekend and noticed something weird. She was running N1MM with the latest update.

The multipliers for the contest are DXCC countries and different OK/OL stations on each band. On 20 and 15 meter the program seemed to count the OK/OL multipliers correctly.

But on 40M, the first OK station was only counted as a DXCC country and she didn't get credit for the station multiplier for that QSO or any of the following OK/OL QSOs. She got the QSO points the same as other Eu stations as expected. But she didn't get the additional multipliers for each different OK/OL station she worked.

I don't know if this would have been a problem on 80M too because she worked no OK/OL stations on that band.

Did anyone else notice this multiplier problem?

Re: After 1.0.5375 .ini file rotor control string deletion

Per N1MM, a fix will be coming out soon that will stop the .ini file from being trashed. I assume to be followed with documentation on how to sue that new Broadcast Data tab in the configurer.

I am having the same problem with this version of N1MM+.
Rotor won't move with an Alt-J command with heading or call in the entry box.
What is the fix?

Bit of a pain and it was a surprise when I first saw all the error messages regarding the IP address. Took me quite a while to deduce there was a new broadcast data routine in Configurer and then what to do with it.

You can set up two separate ini files with the configuration information for each radio separately, and then invoke the program from two different desktop shortcuts, one for each ini file. See <http://n1mmplus.hamdocs.com/tiki-index.php?page=Program+Installation+and+Setup&structure=N1MM+Logger+Documentation#Multiple_ini_Files>.

To do this I would have to change all the Configuration settings in the Logger (the SunSDR emulates a Kenwood) or is there another way? In other words can I separately save the two lots of settings or can I have two separate copies on N1MM Plus on the shack PC?

FWIW:

When using wireless keyboard / mouse devices and "things go whacky" one area to consider is replacing the batteries in the wireless device. I have experienced problems with low batteries and for that reason have eliminated wireless devices (other than the internal or USB driven WiFi connection) on my contesting computer. As luck will have it, the battery will always give up just as you try to work that important multiplier.
