Mike,

I had a similar problem and finally realized that if the cursor is in the call sign window and you move the mouse wheel it will change frequency on the radio.  Apparently when reaching for the mouse I would hit the wheel a bit and move frequency ever so slightly.    Now that I know about this feature I use it all the time when S&P to put me right on freq  after I click on a spot.

One thing is that the original winter field day UDC file WFDA.ZIP with udc WFDA2RTTY
doesn't do the scores and some of the other stuff right. I emaild the author without a
response so I am updating it. Hey appears the dude has a lot of iorns in the fire so probably
could use the help anyway.

How would be the best way to get it to the community? Should I come up with a new name
or just use that one?

Also I seem to be having one minor quirk that I can't seem to track down. The power
multiplyer doesn't seem to work quite the way it should. When you first create a log and
start putting entries in the power multiplier doesn't see to be being applied. Then if you go
back and edit the file and save it, all is good. Am I doing something wrong, or is this a
known quirk?

Hello Everyone,

Just a quick update, I have resolved my problem, it was a combination of problems, from the winkeyer port being stole by another piece of software to an oopppsss the BK-IN feature was not selected, somehow I must have bumped it and did not see it was de-selected. Although it took many hours to resolve I still got the last 30 minutes in the contest, better than nothing.

Let it be known this problem has been resolved
Thanks to those that responded.

The key port on the winkeyer needs to be connected to the key jack on the front panel of your radio. The winkeyer does not produce "modulated cw" I produces on/off transitions that are sent as on/off carrier transitions by the radio.

Note that you must tell the radio through a menu item (check your
manual) that they key in the key jack is a straight key, not a set of paddles.

Re: KY command

Tom KB2URI

Hello
First,
I'd love to request the warning be removed, or something. It's horribly annoying when I'm very aware it's not recommended

To answer your question If the Rig is a Kenwood that uses the KY command, the command must be sent as 24 characters total. There's a work-around, which is obviously not supported, and I know this, and I use it, and I only mention it for those who wish to use it, knowing the fact that the use isn't supported, is used at one's own risk.....
Its:
#F1 Name,     {CATA1ASC KY 123456789012345678901234;}

That commented line sits in my macro file as a template. I copy the template and overwrite the numeric values with the message and spaces to maintain 24 characters. You can use the placeholders *, !, # for the macros, you just need to compensate for the character lengths by removing the needed number or characters.

Again, this isn't ideal, It's not what's recommended. I could go on and I won't. It _is_ however the $0 solution to a problem. It requires no additional hardware than what is currently here.

I suspect there are solutions not exclusive to N1MM+, however there appears to be no interest or desire on any party to do so. I'm fine with that. I've even though of sitting down and scribbling up some VB to work around it, but I've just not bothered thinking the desired audience would be 1. I work around it begrudgingly, and I'm not a big contester and CW even less, so I deal.

That's just my $0.02 and a $0 solution. I hope this helps you and your friend recovers quickly.

I've had similar things happen, though as I recall in my case the speed would go up by 10-15 wpm.

It's not a easily reproducible problem, though at least once it seemed that it may have been a dirty speed pot on the WinKeyer. IIRC exercising the pot cleared it.

Mel,

Speed changes during transmissions can be attributed to RFI getting into the keyer. Does the speed ever change when you are just listening? Or if you reduce your Tx power to zero does the speed still jump?

The answer to those questions will confirm if you have an RFI issue.

The last time I operated in a cw 'test in February, it worked just fine.

I've noticed in recent competitions that all text in the cw reader from
cwget is in lower case.

When clicking on a callsign it is transferred to the callsign box in upper
case, fine.

When clicking on any other text it remains in lower case, not too much of a
problem but it remains in lower case in the cabrilo file.

However, when I entered the RSGB 160 contest last week:

Contest exchanges entered manually in the district field were entered in
upper case and were coloured appropriately in the multiplier window.

Contest exchanges entered by clicking in the CW reader window were entered
in lower case and did not update in the multiplier window.

Is this a bug, or have I got something wrongly configured?

I am having the same problems with the latest version.

I was running Non-Assisted and Telnet was off.

At times i could get the windows spinning wheel and the entry window was locked.

I would grab the keyer and use it to complete the contacts.

It was not a big problem as it did not happen often.

On occasion N1MM would loose my K3 and I had to reset.

one gripe and one request

ERIC OLSON

N1MM logger+ worked great as usual this weekend.

First a gripe.  I have seen the bearing information change to completely wrong information for the call sign in the call sign box many times in the past and this weekend I found out why.  I was using spotting assistance and many times there would be a call in the call frame (above the call sign textbox) from the spots that was incorrect.  If I moved just a few Hz the information would change to the spotted call instead of the one in the entry call sign box.  Very annoying at times.  If a call is in the entry box it should have info display priority until the box is empty.

Next the request.  Have a timer that is reset by PTT and frequency change information as well as contact entries.  That way one could get a better estimation of time on the air instead of the time between contacts over 30 minutes.  The latter is for the contest sponsor but the earlier would be nice for our own information.  I am not the biggest station and many times I have chased a multiplier over 30 minutes and it looks like I was away from the radio according the 30 minute rule.

Was a good CQWW weekend.
