More info....please !

Folks,

Recently, there have been a few postings like these:

- I installed the program and it isn't working right. What's up with that?
- Installing the latest full installer of N1MM Logger + into my PC followed by the latest update produces that same run time error continually.

It's great that more folks are using N1MM+, but these kind of postings do not provide the development team or the 6000+ readers with any useful information to help you.

A few tips:

1) Include your callsign in all postings. The development team will not respond to anonymous requests.

2) Attach a screenshot or file showing any real time errors or other anomalies.

3) A complete description of what you did, just prior to the error occurring.

Steve, N2IC

Because this can be a very confusing option if you don't know it is turned on, it is NOT saved on exit. You will need to check it each time you want to use it.

Re: Broadcast spot info

DanM

I'm using a SunSDR2PRO transceiver. The SDR software (ExpertSDR2) can display spots on screen, see an example below.

There is a beautiful piece of software (SDC - Software Defined Connector written by Yuri, ut4lw)  that can act as a skimmer, among other features, and can also change the displayed spots color based on feedback from N1MM.
During  a contest, you can find bad spots on the N1MM bandmap, You have the solution to delete them but they will appear again if those spots were reported again by the cluster, or you can add them to the Blacklist, in this case those spots will not be displayed again on the N1MM bandmap.
SDC_Skm3.jpg

Now, the problem is that both N1MM operations, "Remove Selected Spot" and Blacklist a spot although have different behavior/result they will broadcast the same message <action>delete</action>.
You cannot take an action based on this message because you don't know if the user wanted to Blacklist that callsign or just deleted that spot or spots to clear the Bandmap for example. As Blacklist a spot has a different result (spot deleted and blocked to be displayed again) I would expect a different message like <action>Blacklisted</action> for example.
Having a different message, SDC can intercept that action, delete the spot from screen and prevent skimmer to send that spot again.

Thanks

Which "third" party software use this? DXlabsuite I know - and only the delete qso is the one, which is really interesting - all other can be ignored from my point of view or?

Subject: [N1MM+] Grab M&Q for second radio

Is there a way to pull the next spotted station from a SORTED Mult & Q Window and put it into the non-focus radio Entry Window while keeping transmit focus in the run radio's Entry Window? Looking for something like CTRL+SHIFT+UP/DWN ARROW, but that command only gets next station up or down in FREQ regardless of how the M&Q window is sorted. There doesn't seem to be a command similar to ALT+A that will pull next station into 2nd Entry Window from the M&Q field. Tried changing receive focus to R2 while R1 is transmitting and then using ALT+A to populate R2's Entry Window, but that didn't work.

Situation:
- Triband Beam with triplexer pointed to EU
- M&Q window showing calls R2 assigned to that are sorted by direction
- Want to pull stations from the sorted M&Q window to 2nd radio entry field that are within tribanders beam width. Currently just cycling through spots by freq until find someone to work. (Yes, when I run out of spots to work I do actually turn the VFO knob and find someone I can hear.)

Re: band button in entry window, fixed

John Bednar

Jerry,

I spent a couple of hours on this and I believe the RTTY frequency is being corrupted by the USB frequency.

I have verified that the 20m RTTY frequency is saved in the database on exit correctly and loaded correctly from the database at startup. There are pieces to this puzzle.

I will look at this when I get time.

Good morning to all.

First I would like to say Thank You to everyone who has worked on this condition.

This morning I updated N1MM Logger + to version 1.0.8280.0
-------------------------------------------------------
I am afraid that I have to say that the problem still exists, and rather than have everyone sorting through all the messages, I will start again from the beginning.
-------------------------------------------------------

Computer information is as follows:

Core i7   3.2 GHz
16 GB RAM
Windows 10 Pro  Version 1909 - last updated 3-26-2020
-----------------------------------------

The troublesome condition that exists is the 20 meter button in the Band Panel.

If you use the N1MM program, it is supposed to save the last used frequency, per band and mode, in the Band Panel.

It will do this unless you have the Bandmap window open

I will now give you the snips of the Entry Window and the last used frequencies with only the following windows used with N1MM open

Entry Window
Digital Interface Window
Log
MMTTY
Score Summary

The radio is CAT controlled and follows the program, and the program also follows the radio, if mode or frequency on the radio is changed, the program reflects the changes.
--------------------------

The contest is the BARTGSRTTY Spring HF contest

The log is a new one and does not have any contacts in it.
-----------------------------------------

The following is the setup in config

Now, with this setup, the program, N1MM, remembers the last used frequency, by band and mode.
And, it will remember the frequency even if you shut down and restart N1MM.

The following are the snips of each band as set to the last used frequency

------------------------------------------------
Now, if I open the Bandmap window, all the "last used frequencies" will still be intact as above.

--------------------------------------------------------

BUT, if, with the Bandmap window OPEN, I close N1MM and re-open the program, I get the following:

Please note, the now indicated, previously remembered frequency for 20 meters.  It has changed to 14.200.

And the only thing different is that the Bandmap window is now open when N1MM is shut down and restarted.

The Radio has been set to 80 meters for this entire exercise, that is, after the last worked frequencies for each band were created.

It seems odd that it is only the 20 meter band, of the 5 that I tested, that has this anomaly.

Thanks to all who have a hand in working on this situation.

SO2R, TWO SDRPLAYs; TWO SPECTRUM DISPLAYS: QUESTION

Bill N4iQ

HI

I have two SDRPlay receivers.  One is a RSP1A and the other is a RSP2.  Both are working fine when I run two simultaneous  instances of HDSDR - each one tuned by a separate SO2R Radio.  I have been trying to get the N1MM Spectrum Display to work with one spectum Display window using the RSP2 and the other display using the RSP1A.

When I have one N1MM spectrum display up and running, I see both the RSP1 and RSP2 showing in the I/Q tab and I can select either one.  Either one will work fine.

Problem:  If I use the RSP2  (or visa versa) for the first display, the one display works.  If I then try to use the RSP1A in the second display (note: the RSP1A is showing in black in the IQ tab), I get an error message when I select the source as"I/Q via ExtIO.dll".   The error message says  "Failed to find available RSP1A".      What am I doing wrong?   I would appreciate any suggestions.

Presently, to get around this problem by using WaterFall Band map with the RSP1A., which works.   I would rather use the RSP1A directly into the spectrum display if possible.

Thanks    Bill N4iQ

Any thought on this

Add Radio CAT command for BW in the Entry Window Function Keys

I had this set up before but lost it when I made changes. I don’t remember how I did it and have searched the N1MM Logger+ manual.

FYI my reason for this is while running the Spectrum Display I cannot make changes to some of the settings to my IC-7610.

No Jerry doesn’t think it’s serious...he took the time to give detailed messages so the developers may see what’s going on...he hesitated even posting here, for fear of a reply just like you gave him....it’s been going on for a while now, it was reported by another individual last year....and one of the developers did reply that he sees something odd when closing the program with the band map open....I saw the similar problem as Jerry, in my case it was 80m, always going to 3.983....I “fixed” mine by typing 3.580 in the entry window , and after that, it always went to 3.580....I’m the one that started this thread, with fixed in the title.... if you don’t have anything nice to say, maybe don’t say it at all....and if the “plethora of messages” annoys you, just delete and move on. I’m aware of several users with issues that they refuse to ask about, because they feel they get shamed by a certain few.....btw, I’m annoyed by the plethora of your 2 keyboard messages, but I just delete them....

Please don't take this the wrong way, but it would appear you think this is a very serious issue. (because of the plethora of detailed messages)
(until they get it fixed--if it's broken), couldn't you just hit the band button on the front panel
of your radio
or
type the frequency into the log entry window (where a callsign normally goes)
(or even click on a spot if you're assisted, in the avail mults/q's window)

In >150,000 Q's the past 10 yrs I've used the band buttons a few dozen times and it doesn't seem to slow me down any.

I am not making light of the issue, just offering that there are at least 3 other ways to make your logger go to a certain freq.

GL with your issue.
