Re: MMTTY with N1MM+ Problem

Rick

I went to my laptop that was configured for Field Day, and it does the same thing.  So, I can duplicate this on two different machines.  Both PCs are running Windows 10.  The laptop is running an older version of N1MM+ around June.  I may go in the shop and see if I can duplicate on a Windows 7 machine.

I double checked the font size for Windows 10 applications and it is set for 100%.

And a reminder, this only occurs when I am using N1MM+ with MMTTY digital engine.  Running MMTTY standalone has no problem.

Thanks,

Rick

Rick..

I’m not able to reproduce this on my computer. Are you using Windows larger fonts like 125% or 150%.

That might cause this as MMTTY was written before you had the options to make your windows fonts larger like that..

I am running MMTTY version 1.70.

I have deleted the ini files and it appears to work.  However, if I resize the digital window bigger or smaller, then the display will have the lines.  And I  cannot get it back by changing the size back to near the same size.

I suppose my workaround is not to resize from the original or be prepared to resize each startup.

Can anyone reproduce?

What version of MMTTY do you have??

Two things I would try.

  1. Open the digital setup window on the main tab on the right hand side try changing the MMTTY window options to one of the other views. After loading that view then switch back to the normal one and see if that corrects it..
  2. If it does not correct it switch into the directory where you have MMTTY installed and delete MMTTY.ini and Userpara.ini you will have to reset your settings but MMTTY will create virgin default window settings.

Fred,

It is my understanding that RTTY in AFSK is always LSB , while FT8, etc are always USB. Also, I have my 7300 set up for 2 different Loads using an SD card with one for HRD and the other for N1MM.

Are you ready for WAE RTTY DX this weekend ?

You can read the helpful hints and tips at http://www.gu0sup.com/wae.html,
supplemented by https://www.rttycontesting.com/tutorials/n1mm/operating-wae-rtty-with-n1mm/,
but IMO you will still need to watch K8UT/Larry's video found at
https://n1mmwp.hamdocs.com/mmfiles/waerttyqtc2018-mp4/

By watching Larry's video, things that just did not gel for me became crystal clear.
The point that really stood out was using MMTTY's macros to send
<TX> SRI NO QTCS <RX>
<TX> DO YOU WANT QTCS <RX>
<TX> DO YOU HAVE QTCS <RX>
rather than using the DIGQTCR and DIGQTCS macros within Function Key messages an approach I found a bit hard to manage.

YMMV. Thanks to the N1MM team for a superb tool for simplifying QTC exchanges,

Hover the mouse over the N1MM+ icon (*not* the fldigi icon) on the Windows Task Bar, and you should see two or more thumbnail windows appear above (or beside) the Task Bar. One of them will be for the DI window. Right-click on that one for a popup menu. If there is a Restore item that is not greyed out, click on it. If Restore is greyed out, or if the window is still not on the screen, then select Move from the popup menu, press one of the keyboard arrow keys a couple of times, and then you should be able to see at least part of the window and move it with the mouse, which will be locked to the window's title bar. Move the window to where you want it and click the mouse to unlock it from the title bar.

Re: IC 7300 problems

Depends. If the radio is in LSB-D mode (which N1MM+ calls AFSK), then you should be good to go provided you configure your digital "engine" software for AFSK (sound card) transmitting. If the radio is in RTTY mode (which N1MM+ also calls RTTY), then no, what you have done so far will not be enough. RTTY mode requires a hardware keying signal (like CW keying) rather than a sound card input, with the digital engine software configured for FSK keying.

Re: IC 7300 problems

Michael WA7SKG

Remember, there are two interfaces to your radio. There is a serial interface using COM ports (via either USB or CI-V jack) and a soundcard interface via USB only. Port splitting is only required if you have multiple applications trying to access the same COM port. Since you say "The rig and N1NM track very well now..." then your COM port is functioning properly and no port splitting is required. You are reading frequency and keying the radio, so you are good there.

You don't seem to be getting power or modulation from the radio. Although you did not mention if you were seeing a power out indication, we assume that since you heard nothing on another receiver, audio is not getting to the modulation circuits, therefore, no power out.

The problem may likely be one of two places, either the application is not sending audio to the radio, or the radio is not configured correctly. To check the radio, try this: Menu > Set > Connectors > Data MOD should read USB. If it reads MIC, ACC, or MIC/ACC, change it to USB. That will route USB audio to the transmit circuitry. As far as the application goes we will need to know what engine you are using for RTTY, typically MMTTY, MMVARI, or fldigi. You will need to verify in the setup for the chosen engine your audio settings to be sure they are configured for USB Audio CODEC.

Michael WA7SKG

Here's where I stand..
I am using 2 cables for now after I post this I'm going to try port splitting.
The rig and N1NM track very well now after following instructions above.
When I click on 40 in the RTTY column the 7300 jumps to LSB-D.
I try to transmit using one of the macros it keys up the radio but no audio out...I'm listening on separate receiver.
Now I'm going to try port splitting and see where that leads.

Hello All,

It records fine, and I can play back the QSOs from the directory in which they are stored, but if I right click on a QSO in the log and try to play the audio, I get a warning box with "N1MMLogger.net" at the top, saying "Your computer is blocking Logger + from opening this URL (it then states the path to the file, which is correct). I'm using Windows 10. It looks like some sort of security or permissions thing. Can anyone help?

I don't know if it'll show up or be stripped off, but here's a png of the message box:
