Howard,

You need to perform a one-time manual update to refresh your outdated version of the program. You can read those instructions here:

Hi;
From inside my N1MM (about 4 months old) I tried to use the Tool to update the software but my computer keeps reporting that the domain name can't be resolved. I have checked at this end and my internet connection is working fine and I am able to resolve other domain names.
Any thought would be appreciated.

OK, that worked, but still an issue. Any value higher than 2 on that slider and the K3's ALC is pegged and the .wav files are significantly louder than my live audio. Is there anything else in the chain that affects transmitted .wav file audio levels?

Next time, just type "SSB" in the callsign entry field and hit enter.

Mark & Rich VE3KI,

Thank you both. I knew it had to be
obvious.

Mark, yes SSB, not CW. I so rarely ever
use SSB and I have two N1MM icons to click
on, on my desktop. One is for RTTY and the
other for CW. It starts each appropriately
so all I have to do is enter a new contest
in log and go. I clicked on the CW and
after 3-4 Q's noticed it was entering 599,
not 59. I had to go into mode setup and
select both CW & SSB to be able to get it
to log 599, I couldn't select SSB and get
it to act as SSB. Guess that CW part is
carrying over. I'm glad you noticed that.
Guess I need to set up another instance
for SSB, like I have for CW & RTTY.

Gary

Assume you made these contacts on SSB. It
shows CW

Looks like you worked 3 zones and 3
country´s (Cty) and 13 QSO´s

Total mult is 6

Scoring is correct

What is Cty in the scoring info below? I
didn't see anything that looks like it
might be Cty in the scoring info on the CQ
page.

If this should not be scored/included,
what do I need to do to turn that off?

Band Mode QSOs Pts ZN Cty Pt/Q
1.8 CW 13 19 3 3 1.5
Total Both 13 19 3 3 1.5
Score: 114
1 Mult = 2.2 Q's

O'course I might be missing the glaringly

Download the latest update from the web site and install.

If you are not running XP, it should download fine in the future.

Thanks Rich,

No luck.

I turned off power management on the USB hubs per the instructions and made the other power management changes the document advise and I continue to get the timeouts.

One other observation - this only happens in N1NM - I can use HRD or FLDIGI or WSJTX for hours and hours attended and unattended and the connection is rock solid.

I do appreciate the advice.

Windows can put USB ports (regardless of what is plugged into them) to sleep to save power. The only traffic Windows monitors on those ports is keyboard/mouse traffic - it does not monitor serial port traffic on a USB-to-serial adapter. For a summary of where to find those settings, see <https://n1mmwp.hamdocs.com/getting-started/installing-and-upgrading-n1mm-logger/#windows-settings-that-may-affect-program-operation>.

Mike,

In the N1MM+ program click on Help / Open Explorer ion User Files Directory.

This will tell you the path where the program is expecting to see the files. This would have been determined when the program was first installed. So, maybe instead of moving the mountain, you may need to move your files.

No. The downloading and selection of .MC files for a new contest is not automatic. New contests will start with the default .MC file assigned. You need to download the desired .MC file from the website into your My Documents\N1MM Logger+\FunctionKeyMessages folder. Then select >File >New Log in Database and choose the contest. Open the >Associated Files tab and assign the already-downloaded .MC file.

HOWEVER, after having run the contest and assigned a .MC file... the next time you >File >New Log in Database for the same contest (next year?), N1MM+ remembers the .MC file you assigned and will automatically re-assign it (provided the file still exists in the same directory).

Hi Larry,
When I setup the last two contest CQ rtty and SSB the macros that were loaded were a generic rtty macro and a generic ssb macro.???? I had to import the CQ WW RTTY .mc files to have the proper exchanges for the contest.?? I don't use macros for CQ WW SSB be but when I checked the macros were listed as generic SSB.?? In the past MM+ loaded the proper .mc files for the contest in the database.?? When I check the folder on my machine that contains the .mc files only a generic CW/SSB/Digital files were in the folder.?? Now of course there is a CQ WW RTTY .mc file in the folder.?? Nothing has been changed on this computer except MM+ updates since last years contest season.?? Either this is a new Microsoft "feature" that is inhibiting the loading of the .mc files or something broke in my MM+ installation.?? Since you explained that only generic SSB files exist in the downloads I understand what happened in CQ WW SSB but still don't know why there was a problem with CQ WW RTTY.?? Should all the CW and Digital .mc files automatically load based on the contest??? Thanks for the explanation.

I'm not sure what you mean by that.. There have been no changes to how N1MM+ "remembers" the most recent .MC files assigned to a specific contest and then re-assigns the same .MC file to the next running of the same contest.

You will find the .MC files saved under >Downloads >Samples Function Key Files; however, there is only the default definition file for phone contests.

Hi all -

Looking for advice with CAT control on ubitx (emulates FT-817).

Working the world wide SSB contest this weekend. Having a CAT control problem I haven't experienced before. Using the N1NM logger with CAT control on a ubiutx V5 transceiver  I'm getting periodic "Radio 1 Stopped Responding" messages from the N1NMM software in the bandmap window.  I hit the "Reset Radio" button in N1NM and it reconnects.  I don't experience any problems in HRD, WSJTX or FLDIGI.

My configuration:
ubitx V5 with CD8CEC software V1.2
Windows 10 laptop - connected to ubitx via laptop USB port
N1NM Logger - V 1.0.7845 configured as follows:
Yaesu FT-817
COM3
Speed:38400, Parity:N, Data bits: 8, Stop Bits: 2
DTR: Always On, RTS:Always On
Radio NR:1
Radio polling rate: Normal
None of the option buttons are checked.

I've systematically tried changing the speed, DTR and CTS Settings and polling rate and none of the setting seem to make any difference.

Is anyone else using N1NM with the ubitx?  Would appreciate any suggestions...it make participating in the contest somewhat frustrating!
