I just want to take this opportunity to say that in 40 years of dealing with software, N1MM has the best documentation of any program I have ever worked with.  It is incredible given how complex some of the subjects can be, but it really all in the documentation.  I don’t think non programmers fully appreciate how hard it really is to accomplish.  Cheers to the N1MM team!

Problem with CTRLx F keys

Art Suberbielle

Hi all,

In the last few days, I have not been able to use any F key functions that include the CTRLx command UNLESS I download a program update from the website and install it.

At first I thought it might be a glitch in the latest update 1.0.7583. So I loaded 1.0.7576 and started the program and it worked correctly.

But then I closed the program and when I came back to start MM the next day, the CTRLx functions did not work. So today I tried this with several different recent versions and got the same result. Right after downloading and installing an .exe file the program would open and function correctly. If I closed MM and then re-opened it, the CTRLx function keys would not act properly.

I am using Windows 7 with a Piexx and DX Doubler keying 2 K-s radios. This setup has not changed for the last several years.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

73,

Art KZ5D

Geoff,

The RadioInfo packets sent via UDP from N1MM+ to the gateway do not contain a <band> XML tag, only Frequency. Frequency is being sent correctly.

The incorrect band interpretation must be getting inserted by the gateway.

And hopefully a further clue to the developers, ADIF export is working fine with it correctly identifying the <band> field  as 60m. See below.

MMTTY2 it is. Thank you, neighbor!

I guess I visit Export a lot, which is why the Select took me there. I wasn't expecting it, but, yes, one can point it anyplace.

Just create another folder, such as C:\HAM\MMTTY2, and copy mmtty.exe, userpara.ini, and if you use EXTFSK, the EXTFSK files, from the MMTTY folder into the MMTTY2 folder. Configure one of the N1MM+ ini files to point to one of the copies of MMTTY.exe, and configure the other one to point to the other copy. You can have as many different copies of MMTTY.exe on your system as you want or need (each in a different folder).

Re your comment about pressing the Select button and where it points to - it has to start out pointing somewhere, but you can change it to point to wherever you need it to go. The fact that it started out in the ExportFiles subfolder does not stop you from using the controls in the window to navigate to wherever you want it to point to. There are a few file references in the code that will only work from one particular location, but most of them, specifically including paths to digital programs, can be made to be anywhere you need.

Paul,

Yes. You need to create two independent installations of MMTTY. I have one in a directory called /MMTTY-1 and the other in /MMTTY-2. I do this for SO2V operation, and your situation is similar in which you want the settings to be static for each instance of MMTTY.

Re: Logging Multiple Contests at the Same Time

Larry K8UT

Cedric,

I suppose the answer to this question depends on your definition of "at the same time."

There are two ways that you could be logging contacts in two contest in a weekend

1. Many of the QSO parties have agreements whereby they accept submissions of combined logs that contain contacts for their contest as well as other QSO party contests. By examining the logs and looking at the exchanges (which by agreement are distinct from each other) they identify which contacts in the combined log apply to their contest and its score. When you operate in contests that share a combined log all of your contests go in the same log file.

2. N1MM also has a feature by which you can hot-switch between two contests that you are running "at the same time." You begin by defining these two contests on the >File >New Log in Database dialog. When the contests start, you can toggle between the two contests by typing <alt>F and pressing #2. This will toggle you between the current open contest log and the other contest log.

Subject: [N1MMLoggerPlus] Logging Multiple Contests at the Same Time

Greetings Everybody,

I am wondering if anybody knows if N1MM Plus can log multiple contests at the same time.

For example, the Virginia and Louisiana QSO Parties occur the same weekend in March.  Is there a way to log the two contests as separate files?

Since I am a newbie to N1MM Plus, I have not seen or figured out a way other than maybe have two shortcuts on the computer.

Please advise.

Thank You and 73's to Everybody,
