The code in that section has not changed at all in at least 3-4 years. I am moving the mouse all over the digital window and do not see the pause bar turning yellow at all.

UPDATE:

I back tracked to version 7000 (Jan 2018) with similar results. It appears this has been the way it has worked for a year. I haven't spent much radio time during this period, especially RTTY, so I will try to adjust to the way it works now.

"It would be nice" if there were a switch that allowed the automatic pause to be disabled but retain the ability to click the left window bar to pause the decoding. If I have overlooked that setup step, please let me know. I recently did a complete clean install of Windows 10 on this contesting computer when I replaced the dying HDD with a SSD, so I might be overlooking the obvious!

Can this behavior be turned off? Or what version N1MM would I need to back-install to suppress this behavior. I am currently using 7422.

Thanks in advance!

Log then Pop Stack not displaying calls

Michael Sims

Hello,

Trying to use the Log then Pop last evening in the Roundup Practice and could not see the calls in the cal stack window or on the band map.  However, the calls that were Alt. - Left click were pulled from an invisible stack.  The call stack window is displayed when the first call is Alt. - left click, but does not show call.   Also, when the last call that had been Alt - left clicked to the invisible stack is called up and put in the call pane of the Call Entry window, the call stack window disappears as expected.  Again, none of the calls just answered ever showed up in the call stack window throughout the Log then Pop actions.

Operating conditions: DI>Setup>Digital Call Stacking>Enable using FIFO Mults First is checked.  DI>Setup>Settings>DigitalSetupWindow>When using Digital Callstacking is checked.  Station is in "Run" and using "ESM".  N1MM+ V 1.0.7422.0 and MS W7.

I've looked at the on-line description of how N1MM+ is suppose to handle the Log then Pop.

Have viewed the Log then Pop video.

1. I can rx/tx RTTY in native MMTTY.exe.  I can send RTTY in latest N1MM+ but Digital Interface window will not even open. Rebooting did not help.

2. Prior to that I was using the new WSJT/N1MM FT8 protocol.  Everything worked there but could not log contact.  Error message says radio mode was missing.  Checked N1MM config and digital was chosen.

I learned I need to close the DI window first and then MMVARI closes without issues.   However they reopen after each FT8 contract is transferred.   I am just leaving them minimized while running the no radio Ft8 UDP setup.

Thank you also to N2AMD and the whole development team.

Thanks but credit for the heavy lifting goes to Rick N2AMD, as well as to Dev Team members when we all worked together on Wednesday to get this feature tested and documented. (oh -- and to the WSJT dev folks were also standing by and providing helpful support)

>what to do with the DI/ MMVARI windows when running WSJT?
In my configuration (DI windows defined at 2Tone and MMTTY) the DIgital Interface window stays closed and the WSJT-X interface works properly. Not sure about MMVARI, but would appreciate an after-action report about what worked for you following the contest.

Thank you for the practice session tonight!!  It was helpful and affirms I need more practice!  I wouldn’t normally pay much attention to the RTTY Roundup if the WSJT interface improvements were not there.  But I will need them in a couple more weeks for the ARRL Jan VHF so needed to learn how it functions.

Everything worked fine.  My great appreciation to K8UT for his work getting the 2 way communication with WSJT working and to the N1MM team for the whole program and what it has become today.  The Cabrillo output had RTTY as RY and FT8 as DG.  The Decode List is slick and makes picking stations easy!  I don’t have a call history for this one yet so just had blue and grey but the grey is most useful so I know it is a dupe.  The multipliers will have to be a surprise for now.

My only question is what to do with the DI/ MMVARI windows when running WSJT?  I use a 2 INI configuration so the second one has no radio interface but the UDP setup for WSJT.  When using WSJT the screen gets even busier so I tried to close the RTTY related stuff but it didn’t like that. I thought I could fool it into closing them by entering USB in the call field but it said that was not valid for the RTTY Roundup contest.  I ended up minimizing them but is there a better way?

Other that that my only issue seemed to be running low power on 40M when the propagation wasn’t so great making contacts difficult.  Should have tried 80 instead?  Hi hi…

73 and will see what I can do tomorrow in the real RTTY roundup.

Please share this notice with your local groups, as appropriate.

Same time and same drill as in recent years. This coming Friday, let's have two practice sessions to check out station equipment, software and operator(s).

New in 2019! Practice for both RTTY and FT8! Here's the schedule:

2200-2230 UTC, Friday, 5 January - RTTY focus
2230-2300 UTC, Friday, 5 January - FT8 focus

0200-0230 UTC, Saturday, 6 January (Friday evening NA time) - RTTY focus
0230-0300 UTC, Saturday, 6 January (Friday evening NA time) - FT8 focus

"Focus" means lets focus on that mode for the 30 minutes - but if you want to practice switching back and forth between modes by all means do so. I expect you'll find others of a like mind.

Operate just like it's the real thing that starts on Saturday. Use whatever bands are open and active for you at each time slot. For FT8, the following dial frequencies as recommended by Joe K1JT in the January 2019 QST would be a good starting place: 3590, 7080**, 14130, 21130, 28160.

You might want to have a special message prepared to respond to stations telling you that the contest hasn't yet started. (Or, perhaps even practice your typing ;)

Most of all, have fun over the weekend in the RTTY Round-Up! Take some photos of your operation and send them and/or a summary of your experience to me, Jeff WK6I - especially anything around your decisions on how to use (or not use) FT8. It will help me write up the contest for the QST article.

73 jeff wk6i

** Below is a link to the article by Joe K1JT for reference. You may notice that the recommended frequencies for 80 and 40 meters are in typical RTTY subbands. FT8 ops may want to slide up above 7100 or below 3580 if they are having trouble getting a foothold in the recommended ranges.

WSJT-X will not transfer calls to N1MM Log Entry

Irwin Darack

I thought I would play around with the FT8 in the RTTY RU Contest. I followed the instructions in the N1MM website (2.6.18 WSJT-X Decode Window) Everything seems to be set up correctly in WSJT-X and N1MM? I have the WSJT-X Decode window working and able to click on a spot in the window and it transmits in FT8, etc.

After working the station, it logs the QSO in the FT8 Contest Log, but does not transfer the call to the N1MM Log Entry Window.

Not sure what I have set up wrong?

Thanks, Irwin
