There are no time limits (as in single operators must operate no more than xx hours), so off time rules are unnecessary.

Re: Spectrum Window SDRplay RSP1A

galoot@...

I have the RSPduo and have tried two configurations. The one Rich mentioned above but also another with a slight variation.
Since running N1MM, keying and having Waterfall Bandmap in the same laptop was occasionally giving me some random
embarrassing keying blips, I discovered the CPU load was quite high and the fan was on all the time. I had another laptop
so I put Waterfall Bandmap in it and configured N1MM to get data from it remotely. This arrangement works fine and the load is
shared nicely; no more blips. A Winkeyer would be a nice addition on reflection. I tried this method in last weeks CWT
contest but discovered a different way that I realized works better for me:  I run RSPduo and Omnirig in the 2nd laptop
now. I do give up the N1MM spectrum window & spots. Spots are still in the telnet window if I ever want them. The
advantage I like with this setup is that I can now watch 2 bands with the RSPduo and switch instantly if something
appears on the 2nd band. I have a TS590 and connected the RSP to the DRV port and built a T/R device with a relay that connects
the RSP antenna I/P through a Minicircuits splitter to both antenna ports in the RSP so I can see the two bands. It also terminates
terminates the RSP in a 50 ohm load on transmit though I'm told this is not needed. There is no overloading and in addition
when used in this configuration, the RSP automatically mutes and applies 60dB attenuation. Having RSPduo in the 2nd
laptop gives me more screen real estate too. I needed to use both the USB and RS232 port in the TS590 for CAT
control but this works very well. During the last contest I ran unassisted and relied on SDRuno which was a better indicator of what
I could actually hear with my modest antennas. Until there is a Flex on the desk, this arrangement works for me.

If you plug your paddle into the Winkeyer, can you send CW from the paddle? If not, there is something wrong between the Winkeyer and the radio's CW key jack, such as a bad cable, loose connection, etc.

If you can send CW from the WInkeyer using a paddle, but not using the keyboard, the problem is between the WInkeyer and the computer. After checking in the Windows Device Manager that the COM port number that Windows has assigned to the Winkeyer is COM3 , open the N1MM+ Configurer, check that there is an entry for COM3 with Radio set to None and the CW/Other check box checked, click on the Set button for that port, and make sure the Winkey check box in the port setup is checked. You don't need to change any of the other settings in this window.

My radio is the same as yours, FT1000mp MkV. and getting rid of the old .ini file got rid of the problem - don't delete it, just rename it.
I had even drawn a matrix of all possible settings of the RTS/DTR/PTT via radio etc on both the com ports I'm using, and tried all possible combinations known to man, and a few that God only knew. Nothing changed the fact that the software turned on the TX when loaded, although occasionally if the transceiver was on CW it didn't happen. The only thing that worked was a new .ini file. That's worked fine ever since. I presume you restarted you computer once rid of the old .ini file and that there now a brand new .ini file as well as the one you renamed ?

Michael,

If you are only operating two contests...

Once you have defined the two contests (>File >New Log in Database) and you begin operating the contest(s), you can quickly Hot-Key between those two contests by typing <alt>F, 2 (>File, then the number 2). This "feature" works because, when trying to jump between only two contests, the opposite contest will always be the second (#2) in the contest list.

USB, not USB-D for the IC-7300. So, I have to manually set that on the
radio when changing between voice and digital.

I can't seem to find any way to change anything in the contest settings
after the New Log is selected.

Michael,

Right click in the Entry window to set the bands. The modes are
determined by the Category Mode selection in the contest setup
dialog and the contest rules. The band selection is saved by
contest name.

The radio will switch modes if you select the proper option in
Configurer, Mode Control tab. The right side of that dialog will
determine what mode the radio is programmed to when you click on
PSK or RTTY. The left side selections determine if you want the
radio mode to change.

Subject: [N1MMLoggerPlus] Band Panel Frequencies

How do you configure the Band Panel frequencies? When I hover my
mouse over a button it says what frequency it will QSY to. When
I select PH, it seems to go to the last frequency I was tuned to
on phone. But when I go to DIG, I can't get it to go to the
digital frequency, i.e. 14070 for 20m. Instead, it goes to
14.200 for 20m Dig and 7251.12 for 40m DIG,
3995.93 on 80m DIG. It doesn't seem to matter what frequency I
was on the last time I was in DIG mode. Since I predominately
use PSK31, I would like it to go to 14070, 7070, and 3580
accordingly. Any way to code this or configure it someplace?

Now, to really dream, it would also be nice if, when I selected
DIG, it could switch the mode of my IC-7300 to USB-D and back to
USB/LSB when I go back to PH.

Rotor Control via PstRotatorAz?

Rick Tavan

I'm working on getting rotor control working in what will become a rather complex environment described below. Taking it step by step, I first got N1MM_rotor.net.exe working fine on a single computer via N1MM Logger. I can type in a call or heading and alt-J turns the rotor.  Then I set up PstRotatorAz on the same computer and it controls the rotor manually. I used the Setup facility in PstRotatorAz to specify the same Rotor Name that I was using with N1MM_rotor and in the Config | Antennas section of N1MM Logger. I left the default Rotor and Radio ports at 12040 and 12060 in PstrotatorAz Setup | Trackers | N1MM and checked Radio in MM Config | Broadcast Data, set to 127.0.0.1:12060. Rotor is set up there for 127.0.0.1:12040 although there is no check box for that line; I guess it's always active? I type a call sign or heading into the MM Entry Window, hit alt-J, and nothing happens. I suspect MM isn't talking with PstRotatorAz. Any advice?

I'll have more steps to go once I get past this. My eventual target is N1MM Logger running on a control computer that is also running the client side of PstRotatorAz at one QTH, talking to a machine at the other QTH that runs the server side of PstRotatorAz controlling the rotor. But for this step in the evolution, I'm just trying to use MM and PstRotator on a single machine.

Thanks & 73,

/Rick N6XI
