Re: Can't Get Digital Interface

Thanks, Larry. I found it hiding behind the Entry window. It moved with the Entry window and I had a devil of a time actually reaching it. But finally got it and am set to go.

Thanks again.

OLD CONTESTS

How can I get rid of old, and sometimes bogus contests??

Can't Get Digital Interface

Stan K4SBZ

I recently upgraded to Windows 10. Since then I cannot get the Digital Interface to appear for MMTTY.

I have read all of the documentation twice and the software is up-to-date. Everything else works fine. I get the RTTY engine but no Digital Interface window to see the text being received.

Any suggestions as to what I am overlooking?

I would really like to get ready for the contest this weekend.

Well, take small steps and configure the digital setup per the manual and open a digital contest. Opening a digital contest will start MMTTY or MMVARI.

As my earlier direct email explained, you may have the digital engine configured to open the radio COM port.

Re: Changing from one contest to another

John Bednar

Sam,

This is a technique used to switch contests rapidly. You cannot open two programs at the same time or open two contests at the same time. This is why you cannot find the topic in the manual.

Alt+F is a shortcut to open the Entry window File menu. At the bottom of this open menu you will see a numbered list of the last contests that were opened. Pressing the number in front of the contest will close the current contest and open the numbered contest.

The contest setup dialog, Associated Files tab allows the user to specify Function Key, Call History, Master Callsign, and Goal files associated with the contest. These are all imported when a contest is opened. The Entry window Band Button selected bands display configuration is automatically saved with the contest name for each Entry window. So the Band Button display will also change if you selected different bands.

So with some careful advanced planning and  telnet band/mode selection, you will be able to make the change between two contests as simple as pressing ALT+F and then pressing the number 2.

John,

You're right, it's working.

If the multiplier window is not open when I change contests, the callsign field in the new contest's entry window is white and the cursor is blinking at the left (the other entry window fields are blued out) indicating the callsign field is ready to accept input.

If the multiplier window is open when I change contests, all of the fields in the entry window are blued out. No blinking cursor. It didn't occur to me to try the keyboard anyway. Taking your advice, I hit a key and the entry window's callsign field comes to life and my keyboard typing shows up in it.

Thanks for helping me understand how it works.

Are you running other software (skimmer, lpbridge, SDR, etc)?

John,

Been playing around with it some. I have six windows open: entry, check, bandmap, log ,multipliers => counties/other, telnet. When I change contests the multipliers window gets the focus instead of the entry window.

If I close the multipliers window and change contests, the focus goes to the entry window's callsign field. Something about the multipliers window?

I placed the cursor in the Callsign box and switched contests a dozen times. The cursor always stayed in the Callsign box. If the Entry window focus changed to another window and back to the Entry window, the cursor always returned to the Callsign box. This is the expected behavior.

I saw the behavior you described in older program versions. I am unable to reproduce your report with version 1.0.5176.

Hi Rick,
In L32 I have COM8 set up for PTT with the TS990 (COM 3 is actually used for a second radio).

I did try COM 8 in N1MM+ and got the same result as when I used COM 3. Does that make sense?

How do you have the radio setup in Logger32?? Do you have COM3 setup as a PTT port or is that the actual radio port..

Hi All,
Attempting to connect N1MM+ to TS990S and unable to succeed.

The connection works fine in Logger32 but with the same data entered in N1MM+ the radio won't connect and i get the message that ''COM3 is in use by another program''.

The only program using COM3 is Logger32 and if that is not running then the N1MM+ connection should work. Is that correct?

N1MM+ (MMVARI) transmits and receives fine but of course there is no correct frequency display and for that reason qso's can't be logged.

I seem to be missing something. Any advice please from a TS990 owner?

Thank you,

N1MM Plus with Dell Optiplex 780 USFF Computer?

Gary K9GS

Hello all,

I'm interested in finding out if anyone has used N1MM+ on a Dell Optiplex 780 USFF computer?

I'm particularly interested if you are using Win 10 and especially interested if you have changed to a SS HD.

Please reply off list. -at- arrl-dot-net

This has been an interesting exchange. I never knew you could operate two programs at the same time and have been reading the instruction manual but can't find the proper method. John, can you explain how it is done or where I can find it in the documentation??? I am using a K3 single receiver and the latest update.

I saw the behavior you described in older program versions. I am unable to reproduce your report with version 1.0.5176.

I had to revert to my N1MM.
N1MM+ I found I could not use ESM.
Run - Calling CQ etc worked fine.
S&P was chaotic.
Pressing return would send his callsign
I wud Put in his number
pressing return again would send TU G0IBN and would not send my number.
If i manually press F2 - Exchange, i would get a completely different reply
The response of 599 and a number had to be sent by hand
F2 would send TU G0IBN instead of 599 and a number
The MACROs move around! ie instead of F2 saying 599 and a
number it says TU de G0IBN
Have i not set some thing correctly?
Hope that makes sense?

Beware... we discovered a bug this morning in the ADIF import process.
It is supposed to block you if you try to import contacts from an ADIF
file to other than the same contest, but we discovered that is not
working reliably. Thecopy and rename in Windows avoids any risk of this.
