MSARS Diary Dates
Looking forward to John Berry’s talk on Sporadic E, I have chased the Es on VHF for ni on 40 years after being introduced to it by John G3WZT . Living in an apartment block now I am restricted to indoor antennas and with a short boom 3 element duo band for 6 & 4M fixed facing south east I still manage to get reasonable results working five continents each year on 6M and three continents on 4M each year with this antenna setup. My ODX
withh the loft antenna = JR1LZK in grid QM06FL at 9567 k. On 4M my ODX with the loft antenna is 9K2YM in grid LL48EQ at 4711 k. We are in the dying days of this years summer Es season tho we do get a few winter Es openings. The great nephew of Anthony Appleton, who identified and named the E layer, lives here in my apartment block. Check out my https://www.qrz.com/db/G0LFF to see some great Es QSL cards from over the years.
