Town Day

This weekend is town day in Burgess Hill.

Working on the idea of moving into newer technologies there is going to be an interesting array of demonstrations available by MSARS.

Normally there is an HF station but this does of course require the mast and guylines all of which are not friendly to the public - Plus the problem of EMC and our requirement to make sure we are not frying the general public !

This year will be a trial using remote technology where my station at home will be remotely accessible and HF will be operational.

The ability to do this requires the installation of smart SDR on a Windows computer - obviously the computer needs to be of a reasonable standard so I'm sorry if you're pushing around some old windows 98 device it is simply just not going to work !   WIN 7.  WIN 10.   WIN 11.    All OK.  Plus you do need to have a computer headset with microphone to make it work.

There are at least 2 club members who have already installed this and it was very easy with no problems.

If anyone is interested in trying this please contact me and I'll explain how to set it up the software, this is free and very simple to install and it will enable two people to simultaneously operate on different bands at the same time.  Mains power will be available to run the computer.

MOST IMPORTANT

The software is commercial and very well written, but your personal computer has a configuration I know nothing about and if it subsequently fails after doing this I'm sorry but I hold no responsibility

There will be three or four active HF transceivers working the world on 10m through 80m in the park too, but we'll all be under the EMC limit because we don't want to anger the ICNIRP police or melt anyone's candy floss.
