Welcome to the new Groups.IO members
Just a quick note to welcome the latest flurry (?) of sign-ups to the Groups.IO system. A couple of points I'd like to mention if you're new to
Groups.IO, just to speed your induction. A reminder for everyone
else. Briefly, it's not a traditional email platform, but a collaborative discussion tool. All 'posts' are viewable on the Groups.IO website under the various named groups - ours being called 'MSARS'. MSARS group settings are currently set to 'publicly viewable', so anyone can see your messages. If you post to the group (on the Groups.IO website, or initiated by sending or replying to 'msars@groups.io' from your registered email address) then EVERYONE in the group will get a copy of your message sent to their email inbox. There are two exceptions to this rule. 1) If an individual member decides to set their profile to 'not receive emails from the group' then they won't receive any emails - but this is not the default setting. 2) You cannot initiate a message to a single member. However, if the group receives a message, including you, THEN you can choose to 'reply to sender' only, but again, it's not the default. Finally, a copy of every single message and reply is AUTOMATICALLY copied to the Groups.IO page of the MSARS website via RSS. This is a great way to make yourself look like a silly sausage in real time should you inadvertently post something private. Just sayin'! This is also a cheap and cheerful way to post something onto the
website for public consumption, like an advert for your old radio
tat or whatever. Be careful if you choose to post an email address
or telephone number in the body of your message however.
Virus-laden pork and ham luncheon meat will surely be the result. Forewarned is forearmed. Berni M0XYF
