50 Ohm Non Inductive Carbon Resistor.
G3WYN Ken
I need a replacement for the large 50 ohm tubular resistor in my paint tin "Cantenna" Dummy Load. I've seen a few of these which are about 5 inches long, changing hands at our junk sales over the years.
If you have one in your own junk box I'd be glad to discuss terms with you any time. Or, if you have a 50 ohm high power dummy load for disposal that might be even better. This by the way is my first post to our io group.

Dear Mervyn/All,

Some months ago I asked Russell to obtain the committee's agreement to delete the 'old' email system and move to a group.io address because (1). The old system did not work properly and, (2). the Worthing club, having also experienced group email problems, had also moved to a group.io address and this worked well. I did not know that the committee had decided to start two new email addresses and do not really understand why this was done - perhaps Russell can provide the answer. 73, Gavin

Re: New group email system
Hi Alan. Yeah, email's been a mess for a long time. I don't have access to all the members private email addresses, so I could only 'advertise' the original groups.io setup via the old broken email system and via the 70cms repeater net and Zoom. Anyway, I hope the club can now start to take a fresh look at all it's digital infrastructure. There is much that could be included in a strategic review, such as the website, group communication, private communication, newsletters, online meetings, social media, remote access to updated shack-based resources, training - you name it. There is a vast array of exciting opportunities available. I just hope the club comes out of the Covid crisis with enough momentum to take advantage of them. Berni, I was not aware that you had set up a groups.io for Msars Members, I not received an invite to join it. Up until Mike G1TDL sent out the invites to join the new group I had not had any emails from the club since 14th May. Alan G8YKV. From Alan G8YKV. Sent from my mobile.

This weekend's contest
M6IQW Dave <m6iqw@...>
Is anyone else planning to be involved in this weekend's CQ contest (the year's BIG one).
There's an option to add a club to our personal entry. If there's enough interest to make it worthwhile, we could do a club entry in addition to our personal one. Cheers all Dave M0LDP www.qrz.com/db/M6IQW Sent from my Android device with K-9 Mail. Please excuse my brevity.

I've not had any contact from the club's email system for ages. The new one apoears to be working so if possible, can we agree to go forward with this one?

I set up two io groups to transfer members from the two msars.org.uk groups that I ran.

I don't know why a second groups.io group was set up. Nobody seemed interested at the time I set up the first group, but for whatever reason the new group has way more members, so I'll shut the original group down. I tried to help out, but to no avail. As long as it's sorted that's all that matters. At least it'll save me the admin overhead. Berni M0XYF

That is true about the old email group but we now have two MSARS groups setup on groups.io. The one Bernie setup for us during the summer and a new one that has just appeared Both groups should work reliably now and I get email from both. My point is why was a second groups.io setup recently which confuses things? Merv

The 'old' email system did not work properly for some obscure reason - it was suspected that this might have been due to some members using talk talk as their internet provider, but this claim proved to be untrue. I suggested the move to the 'groups.io' because the Worthing club had experienced similar problems to MSARS originally, but the move to 'groups.io' seemed to cure these problems. I don't know whether the MSARS intend to cancel the original group email or to run both systems at the same time - perhaps the Committee would advise all members of the future intention. 73, Gavin 0 14:16, M0WVE Mervyn wrote:

So we now have two Io groups on the go
msarsmembers@groups.io and Msars@groups. I guess we must now post our emails to both groups until it is decided which one is to be deleted? Still a confused Merv - M0WVE

I thought we were all supposed to be using the io group that Berni went to a lot of trouble setting up ages ago.
Maybe I have it wrong but there should only be one email group.
Can I request that the two group administrators liaise and sort it out.
Many thanks
