I'm happy to help Alan as assistant cashier if no one else is interested. My only concern is that I need to make a very early start Saturday (I'm driving at Amberley) so I'll need to get away promptly. Kind regards Dave M0LDP

To all members, It would appear there is some confusion by members regarding the arrangements in place for our meetings, if you recollect that I posted 27th July regarding our return to regular Friday meetings, these have not changed.
Regarding the Surplus Equipment Sale planned for you the members we are planning to arrange the seating to please you (no legal requirement) also those that wish to wear masks that is your right. We cannot stop anybody who has not been vaccinated from attending our meetings. I hope this clarifies the situation as we have not had any revisions to the original conditions as to us using the hall.
The committee hope that all members who can make it on FRIDAY 22nd OCTOBER will attend to support this event as we try to put the past 18 months behind us and get back to pre COVID way of live so please if you feel you can assist in any way please reply to Stella as soon as possible.
Hoping to see you all there. Regards Russell Nelson G7TMR Hon Chairman MSARS

Meeting room safety
G4UDU Phil
I have been asked about the Covid safety measures that are in place at the Worthing club - some may consider them excessive - but they are safe
The meeting room there is owned and used by the sea cadets - so their principles set the rules, these are as follows:- Due to the fact that the venue is currently used by un-vaccinated young people, the owners of the building insist on the following: WADARC members only. You MUST have had both doses of a Covid 19 vaccine. "Gatherings" to observe Social Distancing. Where practicable, the back door may be left open to allow air flow and reduce the risk of Covid infection. Club insurance is in place for member/member accident/injury. Covid 19 claims will NOT be considered. Please note: The above rules have been made by the management of TSVanguard (Sea Cadets) and must be adhered to. They are not WADARC rules, although our committee thoroughly endorse them. They are there for the protection of all people using the building. Sorry folks, but no tea or biscuits will be served at this time, but hopefully this will change over time. Please bring your own refreshments for the time being. Phil G4UDU

This is one of more to come Now this is something I'm pretty sure you will not see again in a long time even if you have ever seen one ! This is a true spy radio as used by the SAS and the serial number on it is down to the allocated number for that Particular regiment, the only other users were the diplomatic wireless service. A MK 123. Complete with some accessories and the 12V inverter PSU and user plus service manuals. It will require servicing, but if you would like to be the owner of something very rare. If anyone is interested - and this will have to be a significant sum Get in contact with me - last one on EBay over 2 years ago - not sure of condition sold for around £2000 and that’s was WITHOUT the inverter. Cyprus Hall meetings
G6DGK Gavin
Dear Stella/committee members,
Thank you for the notice about the forthcoming junk sale on the 22nd. October and I hope to attend accompanied by my old friend - Jim Hylton. I have heard today that the hall in Worthing where the Worthing Radio Club(WADARC) meets has implemented a rule that only those who have been double vaccinated may enter these premises. I believe that this hall is like Cyprus Hall ,publicly owned, and I personally feel that this is a sensible move to offer as much protection as practicable to users of the hall who have received both doses of the vaccine. I am not aware if Cyprus Hall has introduced similar precautions or not but I really feel that MSARS as a responsible Society, ought to request that any of our members who have not been double vaccinated should not attend the Friday evening meetings until they have received both vaccinations and strongly recommend this to our committee. Please will you pass this suggestion to all MSARS committee members and request that serious consideration be given to the proposal, as a matter of urgency. Many thanks and with kind regards, 73, Gavin Keegan (G6DGK)

Communications via the aurora
G8JBJ John
Hi Stella, Here's a brief on my presentation on 12th November for the web site and other publicity. Communication via the aurora Communication by radio amateurs via the aurora borealis (and indeed via the aurora australis in the southern hemisphere) can only be described as sporadic. Like Sporadic E, it’s a mechanism supported when several atmospheric and geomagnetic effects align. And it occurs in the thermosphere, around 110km up. But just because there’s a visible light show does not mean radio propagation will be supported. So why, and how often, do radio auroras occur? Can I participate south of the border? What do I have to do to exploit them? How will I know if there’s an aurora in progress? How can I design my station to maximise both chances and DX outcome? And how can I predict when a radio aurora is going to happen? John will cover the full science and practice of communications via radio auroras. Regards, John GM8JBJ
