Apparently, Groups.io will only accept in-line pictures and not attachments, so hopefully you will get these this time.

Please could you advertise the items on the club's website. They were left
behind when one of our neighbours moved. They are 'free for collection', as

Dear All

Please note that the consensus of opinion regarding the Christmas Meal from all those that have replied is that we postpone it until after Christmas & find a date in the New Year some time. When we are nearer the New Year we will look at this again and think of where would be a great place to go.

Alan Blumlein - inventor and engineer
Date: 2 September 2021
Time: 6pm BST
Alan Dower Blumlein (often referred to by his initials ADB) left a legacy of 128 patents by the time he died at just 38 years old, whilst onboard an aircraft during World War II that had been testing ground-breaking radar technology.  In the 150th anniversary year of the IET we are privileged to present a touching account by his surviving elder son, Simon Blumlein, which covers the life and work of his father as well personal reflections.  Many of Alan Blumlein’s patented technologies are the antecedents of the glue that holds together much of our lives, such as in television, broadcasting, and even computers.  Arguably best known of all, Alan Blumlein invented stereo; and woven into the story are now household names such as EMI and the famous Abbey Road studios. There is a follow on Q&A event on 16 September

As we will not be having our Christmas Dinner in the Upstairs Hall at Cyprus Hall this year, do you:-

1) Want to go out to a Pub somewhere on that date 3rd December 2021. Please remember a lot of the Pubs have Friday nights as Music night so that might be an issue.

2) Want to change to another night, i.e. mid-week perhaps.

3) Change to after Christmas when the Prices will be cheaper!

4) If you would like to go to our yearly do YES/NO?

Alan Dower Blumlein (often referred to by his initials ADB) left a legacy of 128 patents by the time a Halifax aircraft crashed and killed him (along with all 10 other passengers and crew) in 1942.  At that time Britain was in the grip of World War II and Alan Blumlein was just 38 years old.  The flight was associated with secret development of airborne radar, for which Alan was witnessing the efficacy of a magnetron.
Simon, his elder son, was age 6 at the time, and we are privileged that some 79 years later he has recorded a touching account of the life and work of his father, made at Solent University earlier this year. There is a follow on Q&A event on 16 September

Subject: MSARS Christmas Meal 2021 Suggestions

Dear All

Please could you reply to this email as I am doing my best to sort out the programme until the end of 2021.
