Week 3: Jan. 26–Feb. 1 – Supporting data collection / Webinar – Sun Jan 26,14:30 (UTC)

  • Preparing teachers to collect data
  • Supporting teachers as they collect data

To do (but don't worry if you can't do nos. 3 or 4 now):

1. Watch the recording of webinar 3 if you couldn't be there 'live': http://iatefl.adobeconnect.com/pb2i0nkad9vq/
2. Look back over Chapters 1 to 8 to consolidate work so far, and read Chapter 9 of Mentoring teachers to research their classrooms - in the 'Files' area, then comment on or question anything you have read (and/or heard in webinars 1 to 3), from any point of view you like, in https://groups.io/g/Mentoring-TR/topic/week3_please_comment_on_or/70135599?p=,,,20,0,0,0::recentpostdate%2Fsticky,,,20,2,0,70135599

3. Mentor a teacher to decide on types of data to match their research questions – and to help them develop methods of data collection [Ideally, record the dialogue – with permission – and listen back], then share and reflect on this experience, from any point of view you like, in https://groups.io/g/Mentoring-TR/topic/week3_mentor_a_particular/70135795?p=,,,20,0,0,0::recentpostdate%2Fsticky,,,20,2,0,70135795

4. [Optional] Consider making / sharing your own materials for mentoring teacher-research, placing them in the 'Files' section ('Shared materials/activities for mentoring TR', in groups.io/g/Mentoring-TR. Put your name with a copyright sign ((c)) clearly on the materials if you do so.
