Today I ran into a Jaeger sitting on one of the sand bars at the Garcia River mouth at 16:00. After about 30 minutes the bird took off and did not return.
I’m leaning toward Pomarine, based on bi-color bill and seemingly dark face. Parasitic seems more likely though. I’ve included some distant photos in the linked ebird checklist. I’m interested to hear the thoughts of folks with more Jaeger experience, and the characters their using.
