Hybrid Oystercatcher continues at Vista Pt S of Bruhel Pt

Lisa D. Walker, (Feather Forestwalker)

Hi all....

Birded with Kevin Giusti and Shannon Underhill up at the Vista Pt S of
Bruhel Point. The hybrid AM/BLOY was still present, making this day five
(that we know of for sure).

Hermit Thrushes, Ruby-crowned Kinglets, Northern Flickers, Common Ravens,
White-crowned and Song Sparrows along the trail out there, as well as a
single American Kestrel on the top of a dead pine.

At Newport both the Ferruginous Hawk and Rough-legged Hawk were present (I
got photos of the latter). Red-tailed Hawks and American Kestrels are all
over up there. Also, a Bald Eagle was perched in a pine well above the
highway until a Red-tailed Hawk dove on it and scared it off.

A White-tailed Kite was kiting over the meadows north of Newport. No signs
of the Snow Geese that Tim Bray reported.

Wrentits

The Newport Coastal Trail out to the benches showed us some good looks at
Yellow-rumped Warblers, White-crowned, Golden-crowned, Song and Savannah
Sparrows. Black Phoebes were hunting insects as well.

Happy Birding!
