TBS 6909/6909-X/6909-X V2 - formally Re: [MSG-1] TBS 1609/1609-x/1609-x V2.

Hello Ernst,
Yes, sorry, a bit of brain finger trouble.
I meant the TBS 6909 and variations.
>Your images show a TBS-6909-X (not V2!) and a TBS-6909.
Ah, that's interesting as I got the first image off the TBS website and it said it was V2 in the write up.
The second image was the one Amazon UK are selling.
Mmmm, things don't look very encouraging.
Thanks for information regarding operating the 6909 and the advice to purchase a TBS 6903.
Best wishers,
John

John, first of all AFAIK there is no TBS 1609/1609-x/1609-x V2. Your images show a TBS-6909-X (not V2!) and a TBS-6909. Second you must completly forget the TBS-6909, which is very different from the -X models (has no VCM capablity!) There is a TBS-6909-X and a more recent TBS-6909-X V2. Both models only work with a 22uF SMD capacitor added. The V2 has additional DLNAs at the input. After my tests under GNU/linux TBS has delivered these TBS-6909-X V2 with the capacitor added. Graham Woolf has purchased such a card from a supplier in the UK and he could not get it working under Windows 10 due to driver problems. Graham finally setup a GNU/Linux receiver and is happy. I personally run a bunch of GNU/Linux receivers with the TBS-6909-X and added 22uF SMD cap with excellent results. Christian Peters also runs GNU/Linux with a TBS-6909-X V2. I don't know what the present state of the TBS-6909-X V2 Windows driver is but unless someone on the list has this working well for EUMETCast you will be the pilot user. Unless you want to change to GNU/linux I recommend to buy a TBS-6903 where you will find Windows expertise. Regards, Ernst P.S. Hello again Ernst,
Thanks very much for this link.
I Googled UK suppliers but drew a blank - apart from Amazon UK.
This looks far more business- like and not that far away from me.
Thanks again.
Best wishes,
John.

Good evening Ernst,
I use the TBS6903. Whats the trick to start BDADataEx twice to use both receivers of the TBS6903 at the same time? Normaly the software does not allow to get started a second time. Best wishes, Michael

Good evening David,
thank you. I‘ve seen this solution. Ist seems to be the only one, right? Hoped to find one with two cables. I use an LNB with two connections/cables. Best wishes, Michael

Michael,
the single cable solution runs T1 + T2 over a single cable and is only possible because T1 and T2 are in the same band and have the same H polarisation. EUMETSAT will change their transponders to V and H later and then you will have to use both cables. This should already be possible now if you do not tell SR-Test.exe to make the internal connection. Not sure what the CLI parameter 1 for BDADataEX does though (2nd Tap adapter or mute 2nd LNB power?). Under GNU/Linux Single Cable Operation (on LNB0 or LNB1) is switched on with a driver module parameter. Driver module default is 2 cable operation. Cheers, Ernst

Good evening David,Michael, It may be better to get a quad output LNB for future expansion. I think you'll need to use the Add TAP driver option as with the single cable, and then just omit the SR-Test.exe step. Hi David,
very interesting. Where can I find information about the planned future expansions? When will they start? I will try Add Tap solution. Thanks. Best wishes, Michael

Good evening David,Michael, The DLL should be included in the download from CrazyCat. Search you computer for it. If not found, I can put up a copy on my Web site, although I would prefer that you get it (perhaps a more recent version) from CrazyCat's download. Hi David,
tried a lot, but didn'd find the .dll on my system. I've got the actual version from CrazyCat v.1.1.4.11 reinstalled several times. No .dll Where should the StreamReader.dll be located? Best wishes, Michael

Thank's CrazyCat for the files. Where do I place them?
Best wishes, Michael

Hello Ernst,
thanks for your hint. Perfect. The script is running, no fault from SR-Test.exe. But... first window from BDADataEx -> BDADataEx is already running ! second window from BDADataEx -> TAP-DVB adapter not installed third window from BDADataEx -> Network support unavailable ! In the network section no second "TAP" adapter is available. I am so sorry for my questions, but perhaps it is only one click to repair. :) Best wishes, Michael
