Security Updates

A word of warning to XP users. Late this evening having exited MSG etc. I
downloaded two security updates and one small XP update and have run into
problems as a result. I have even used restore but the problems have
remained. The fact that one security update was related to Windows Media
Player 9 may be significant.

Although I normally will not use TV/radio this has now been rendered
inoperable. MSG data may have stopped at the moment so it is difficult to
comment on that but I have noticed that the Tellique symbol in the taskbar
is occasionally turning solid red and warning connection lost. I am
therefore unsure about MSG data at the moment, but will have to investigate
these problems tomorrow.

Ian, it may be of help (or not!) to know that I downloaded the automatic updates today, rebooted the computer (after the obligatory switch off!) and I have not seen any problems. I am running XP but only have Media Player 8.

Cheers,

James

Arne,

Thanks for your help. I have managed this morning to get MSG and TV back up
and running, but without the security updates and other update that appeared
to cause problems last night. Security updates are fairly important, so I am
going to have to think long and hard about this issue. Now this morning I
appear to being having problems with a "dodgy" power supply fan. The fun of
computers !!

Regards

Ian
