I agree with David, firstly you need to know the SNR the engineer is getting at the dish and the SNR at your receiver on a particular channel.

And he might just check the SNR of some other transmissions on E-10A:

For example 11.346 GHz H S1(- but that doesn't matter) - I get 15 dB SNR on a 1 m dish.

And it might be worth also checking what SNR he is getting from Eutelsat 9 B when your dish is supposed to be aligned to E 10A.

With my 1 m dish aligned on E 10A, I get 12.9 dB SNR on 11.900 GHz H - EbS channel.

[On my SR1 my SNR on TP 1 is 13.7 dB.]



I'm at a loss as to what to suggest, Robert.

If the engineer has a meter, what SNR does he see?  I would hope for at least
12.0 dB.  Is it different between his reading at the antenna and your reading
from your receiver?  That would be a simple cable check.

Is there any chance your dish has been bent out of shape?  At 10 GHz the
wavelength is just 30 mm, so a quarter-wavelength deviation would be just 7 mm
- about a quarter of an inch.

The other issue might be where the disk is mounted.  Ideally the LNB should
"see" just the dish, but in reality there will be overspill of the LNB "view"
beyond the edges of the dish.  If that is warm  brick of ground - anything
other than sky - it will have a much higher radio temperature than sky, and
this can cause loss of SNR.

Perhaps ask in the MSG-1 group too?
