Hello All,
Do you miss the old days of 'colourful' RGB VIS GAC?
Well it's back!
Well, sort of.
I'd noticed for some time from EARS in AVHRR Manager that NOAA-19 descending pass 'VIS' was slowly getting 'better lit' over time.
And with summer approaching in the northern hemisphere - even better.
Of course it's winter in the southern hemisphere with lower light levels.
Actually I'd been badgering David for some time asking if Metop Manager GAC could be 're-written.'
He, as always, was busy with present requirements and calls for help from us and thinking about how we are going to 'deal with the future' data dissemination
But I finally manged to get a bit of any spare time he had available.
The result - Metop Manager V3.0.5.360, 2022-Apr-26.
This is a Beta version following on from an update a month or so ago.
You can now have IR GAC ascending or RGB VIS GAC descending - switchable.
The sun is 36 degrees 'to the east of the centre of the descending pass' so the pass is not equally lit.
And light differences and 'banding' in the joined passes composite.
Attached images of the old NOAA 'local midday' ascending pass GAC and the new descending pass GAC.
I am of course very grateful to David for taking the time to/and having a look at this, and releasing the update.
