Publication of images and videos
Manu
Hello to all
My message may be off topic in this group.
With the scripts at Ernst, I get a large amount of images per day in different directories.
Does anyone use a program or script to generate an html page to display the images or video on a web browser for example? Manu

Manu,
I'm not a HTML specialist. But it's easy to integrate *.webm movies into HTML5. You can even play different *.webm movies on the same page at the same time! I just gave it a try years back. You cant take this as a template, just edit your paths. To do that in a professional way you certainly need an Apache2 web server as well. Maybe someone has a HTML5 interface that can easily be adapted for for SPS. Best regards, Ernst

I'm using Photoview on Linux for that exact same purpose. It can render webm movies as well as jpgs etc. in a nice UI accessible via any Browser. E.g. running it in a LXC container on Proxmox is a very convenient way to achieve this.

... one small correction: the Product's name is Lychee (https://github.com/LycheeOrg/Lychee) and not Photoview.

Manu,
I'm not sure the stuff Andreas links is for a Windows guy :-\. Just to show how *.webm works with HTML5 I edited a few things in my above example test.html and put it on Kallisto. Look into the /products/Test5/ directory of the below URL: http://85-132-236-89.dyn.fiber.qlnet.ch:82 Much more possibilities with HTML5 + CSS https://www.w3schools.com/default.asp Cheers, Ernst P.S: I hope my link works (for about 1-2 days only!)?

Thanks Andreas for the links, do you think it is possible to install it on a Raspberry Pi?
Maybe a windows guy can get into it (just to contradict Ernst ;-) ) Manu

Manu - quickly checked the inet - yes it should be possible. However it depends on the Raspi itself. E.g. on a Pi Zero i doubt you'll get some reasonable performance. Other than that i would definitely give it a try on a more powerful Pi.

Betreff: [MSG-1] Publication of images and videos
An: <MSG-1@groups.io> Von: "Manu" <emmanuel.dupre@...> Datum: Wed, 30 Nov 2022 04:28:08 -0800 Antwort an: <MSG-1@groups.io> Does anyone use a program or script to generate an html page to Manu, as long as it is for your private (and only that) use, that sounds fine. But please observe the copyight for all image and derived data of ESA / Eumetsat. Their benevolence and generosity to help us amateurs far beyond their legal obligations depends very much on our observing their rights - and in doubt, they have to defend them. So, please do not even consider any 'publication' - your wording - in the sense of making your images, movies etc. openly accessible. It is part of the agreement of each of us and ESA / Eumetsat that we refrain from making their data public, beyond the data usage that you specified in your licence application. That at least was my last state of knowledge about this topic; since some health issues kept me off line for some time, I may be completely wrong, the situation and constellation may have changed, then everybody who knows better - please correct me! Cheers, Ulli

Ulli and all, It depends on the product as to what you can and can't publish. By and large, everything is provided on a free and non-restricted basis; you can publish it as you please! There are conditions attached to MetOp IASI/GOME/ASCAT data (you can use it, but don't rebroadcast original numerical data) & certain Meteosat products, especially the <3h latency high rate & rapid scan SEVIRI which you must *not* publish either the original data or derived products on the Personal, Educational, Research licence. The EUMETSAT product navigator will show you which licence a particular product falls under, and the following page contains the important information and actual terms: https://www.eumetsat.int/eumetsat-data-licensing For some of the third party stuff the Navigator should point you in the right direction for the licensing terms of those products. These are all the terms accepted in the EOP for gaining access in the first place ;) I definitely agree with the sentiment of not upsetting the bodies involved - they spend vast sums of money to get this kit into space and support it & honestly is wonderful that they provide this access in the first place.

Just a quick addendum, https://www.eumetsat.int/copernicus-data-usage-terms-and-conditions Copernicus data policy for quick reference. Open but add their copyright text. Charlie

Datum: Wed, 30 Nov 2022 14:43:16 -0800 Charlie, thanks for your detailed comment and description. So, generally, I was not that much off with my recommendation to play on the safe side. And it is not only the funds they are responsible for but also all the political positions and sensitivities all involved parties have to take care of. Cheers, U.

I don't want to publish the images, I just want to be able to view them in a pleasant way on my PC or for example on a tablet. They will never be public Manu

Cher Manu,

so, I was misled by "publication" - sorry for the turmoil. Are you aware of the nice range of programs that David has written over the years? To just comprise some photos in gallery (strange, in german it is Galerie, with a single 'l', has nothing to do with the gall bladder...) style, I use programs like gallerinator. Keep on compiling! ;) Cheers, U.
I don't want to publish the images,
