Hello all, the EUMETCastview software handles NOAA-20 VIIRS but can someone tell me are these BAS, HVS-1 or HVS-2 transmissions and also which channel they appear on?
Regards, Peter

Peter,

On the EUMETSAT Web site:

On Eumetcast I recently subscribed to

Metop, SNPP and NOAA Global Data Services / GDS-SNPP/NOAA-20 - VIIRS EDR
Regional Data Services / RDS-EARS - EARS-VIIRS

The Global data Services arrived on the Eumetcast Basic service under channel NPP-1. This channel isn't listed as being on the Basic Service as linked by David above and contained the following sample file

W_XX-EUMETSAT-Darmstadt,SOUNDING+SATELLITE,NPP+VIIRS_C_EUMP_20210819000322_v2r1_AMV_EDR.BIN     24 files around 250KB in size

The Regional data Services appeared on the HVS-1 service in channel E1H-RDS-1 as shown in the link above. It contains the following file samples

SVDNBC_npp_d20210818_t0119129_e0120371_b50815_c20210818013357000730_eum_ops.h5       Approx 50 files around 4MB in size
SVMC_npp_d20210818_t0110405_e0112047_b50815_c20210818011955000072_eum_ops.h5           Approx 230 files around 40MB in size

I used Satsignal/MSG Data Manager to process the files from the receiving PC as they are listed uder 'Setup' and it transfers the files to the 'Images' folder, the Global Data Services files under 'ATOVS' and the Regional Data Services under 'VIIRS' I had to rename the E1H-RDS-1 channel folder to NPP-2 so than MSG Data Manager could recognize it as it only recognizes VIIRS data under channels NPP-1 , NPP-2 or NPP-3 as far as I can tell. If I'm wrong I'm sure David will put me right.

I haven't found any programs that display the files yet to show what they contain. VIIRS EDR should be high resolution images according to the NOAA site so am surprised by the small size of the files received.

Cheers,
Alan
