 is the implication of your last email that with a single Novra S300 box I may be losing out in the future? My future plans are to carrying on as close as possible to the present. I take all channels on MSG-4, GOES 16 and 17, Himawari, IODC, RSS, METOP B and C. I don’t need anything beyond the VIS and IR images (although some wind data would be useful). My reading of such back emails that I have been able to find is that I should be able to access all of these via the reconfigured BAS and HVS channels.
I’ll get a quad LNB, just in case, because this is not an expensive option, but as far as I can see I can pursue my weather interests without any major upheaval at base - or am I missing something important?

BTW yesterday’s EUMETrain briefing was exceptionally interesting. I didn’t see you there – a lot of discussion around storm Eunice with some detailed discussion of the satellite imagery. Members of this and the GEO list might find the recording of this session worth watching.

Robert,

it seems you receive the transponder C4 (often called T1) with BAS + HVS-1. You will only be affected by the renaming of BAS channels that is now ongoing. Users that also receive C10 (often called T2) with HVS-2 can do this with one TBS-6903 card even over a single cable because C4 and C10 are in the same band and have the same H polarisation. C10 will be replaced with C3 that has V polarisation in mid 2022. That's where users that take all three services with a TBS-6903 will have to use 2 cables. In the long run EUMETSAT plans to add 2023 a third transponder with a service HVS-3. That's why users that want to be prepared for BAS + HVS-1 + HVS-2 + HVS-3 better buy a QUAD LNB now. Depending on their receiver types they will need 2 to 3 cables. They will also have to use e.g. 3 x Novra S300  or  3 x SR1  or  2 x TBS-6903  or  1 x TBS-6908  or  1 x TBS-6909X (that presently only works under GNU/Linux). All of this seems not to apply for you as you only receive C4. So no change is needed apart from the renaming of some BAS channels now.

Ernst, Many thanks for a very clear and straightforward explanation. Only occasionally seeing relevant emails over the past few months I was expecting very complex changes. I was unduly worried!

Once I have the dish and LNB fixed I will do the renaming.
