Look forward with interest to what happens. I assume the cash has been
sent to Eumetsat's Bankers, not to them.
I for one have always found Eumetsat, very prompt, most helpful and
extremely courteous and will continue to do things in the way they ask.
Despite our amateur status Eumetsat have always treated us equally with
professionals and I intend to operate like that, given the excellent
package
provided.

Yes, indeed!
I second that and think it opportune to thank EUMETSAT for the efficient,
friendly
and professional way they deal with us amateurs.
I rather think they quite enjoy it as well.

Barry,

With due respect it hasn't been a problem for others. None of us want to
spend money that is unnecessary, but Eumetsat have one method of payment by
Bank Telegraphic Transfer and we have to accept that as part of our costs of
set-up, which as David pointed out is extremely low. I think we run the risk
of antagonising Eumetsat if we try to get round their system -- all to save
�6.

I'm with you on this one Douglas. I'm all for saving money, but if I am privileged to be able to receive data which would otherwise not be in the public domain then I would like to co-operate as much as I could. The differential does not seem to me IMHO to warrant a different approach.

Barry, you cannot get your e-token until you have the necessary
licence from your country's licensing authority which for us will be
the UK Met. Office.

So therefore you will need to pay twice to Eumetsat, once for the
software today and once for the eToken later, so there will be two
lots of bank charges. This is unfortunate, but it's the way it is
right now. You will be able get data until March without the
eToken, so there's plenty of time to save up!

Compared to the cost of receiving the data directly from Meteosat 7,
with a large dish for high-resolution PDUS reception, and the key
unit, and the receiver, a few pounds for bank charges is quite
insignificant, although I agree that any extra cost should be
minimised.
