Ayecka SR1 question
Ernst Lobsiger
Ian,
the SR1 model that could be used with two receiver plugs could never receive two EUMETCast transponders. This is due to the first generation St chip that uses 'single mode' which means both demodulators to be able to decode VCM apsk16 signals. But you can receive BAS + HVS-1 as these are both part of the first transponder currently C4 (H). This of course implies that you have a big enough dish to get a decent SNR >= 12dB. With lower SNRs you should be able to set MODCOD filters for BAS only which was not part of the first firmware. Regards, Ernst |

Ian,
I think I'm right in saying that the GEO SR1 was only a single RF input receiver.
I'm not sure of the need to update the FPGS Version - perhaps others could comment.
However, BAS and HVS-1 both come down in the same stream so you will receive both with the GEO SR1.

After a 2 year break in receiveing wx sats I am trying to catch-up and
update
my system. I have an Ayecka SR1, the software is up to date V1.05b264.
The firmware is 2.02b922, Eumetsat documentation says I should update this
to 2.02b022 . This is not available on their ftp site only
sr1v2.2b922a9P.afp
Where can I get 2.02b022?
This SR1 was bought from GEO, RX2 is disabled, Eumetsat doc says
"Important Note: Firmware Version 2.02b022 supports RX2" will
this enable RX2 so I can use HVS-1?
Regards,
Ian Hanson

Hello All,Ian, This goes a long way back, so perhaps my memory isn't correct. Initially, EUMETCast use more than the four PIDs allocated to each receiver, so you needed to use just one receiver and combine the PID lists together so that that single receiver had all 8 PIDs available. So for that reason the firmware had RX2 disabled. More recent thinking has allocated fewer PIDs for each service, so that HVS-1 or HVS-2 has just a single PID for both the announcement and the data channel. Whether the SR1 could now use RX1 for one service and RX2 for another - whether it has that capacity in the demodulators - I don't know, but that may have been the thinking behind making RX2 available. The advantage would be that RX1 could take just the BAS and RX2 the HVS-1 so that losses on the HVS-1 would not affect BAS reception. However, the MODCODs need to be set for the whole box, making this a non-starter. In short, don't bother to update!
