Small problem

As you are using XP a surer option might be to simply go back to a previous
restore point. It takes a couple of minutes and all harm and driver issues are
gone as if they never were there in the first place.

Just an update to this, confusing as usual with anything connected
to the SkyStar card. I un-installed the drivers and the card and
then went with the old drivers 4.2.2. This seems to have cured the
problem, but on checking I'm still told I'm using the new 4.2.8
drivers...... I'll just walk away from it slowly and hope it all
carries on working. And just to make this week perfect the other
computer has just made a noise like a cat with it tail on fire, so I
would assume that's a hard disk bearing about to go!

I am definitely *not* going to update my drivers!

I have also switched back to the Tellique software I had found on the net before I received the CD from EUMETSAT, as I found that the AstraNet/T-DSL version is much more stable (never had any false start, any double icons in the taskbar and other nasty things).

Beware, as you might need some fiddling to extract and configure the Tellique software... but I did it, and worked fine even under Linux.

I decided to install the new SkyStar 4.2.8 this morning as well and besides of
requiring the repair file, my XP-pro machine shows the same behaviour as you
mention. I personally find it so disturbing that I have decided to roll back to
