I am seeing an increase today in the basic/HVS-1 signal of approx. 0.3dB on the SNR. Always welcome especially up here in Angus.
Unfortunately the new vertical signal for HVS-2 is still extremely poor up here with it not far off 3.00dB lower than the horizontal signal at about 10.2/10.4 SNR. I have not yet checked the skew due to bad weather and some flooding, but as I mentioned before I would be reluctant to compromise the basic signal to improve HVS-2. Regards Ian. |

Ian,
That's interesting.
Looking at MSG-4 HRV VIS, it's going to be several hours before I will be in 'clear sky mode' to check the situation down here on the Sussex Coast.
Goodness, your HVS-2 SNR is very much lower than the BS/HVS-1.
Mine (HVS-2) is usually around 0.4 dB lower with Power -21 dBm and BS/HVS-1 Power at -18 dBm.
And I agree (at the moment) not to sacrifice SNR on BS/HVS-2 for better SNR on HVS-2.
I've left my skew alone since the firing up of 11.263 GHz V.
'If it ain't broke - don't try to fix it!'
Regards,
John.

As John mentions, let hope 10B is better! Cheers, David -- SatSignal Software - Quality software for you Web: https://www.satsignal.eu Email: david-taylor@... Twitter: @gm8arv |
