IODC changes today!

IODC changes today!

There are beta versions of my MSG Data Manager, MSG Animator and GeoSatSignal
software available which should handle the new IODC data from 45.5 degrees, due
after 09:00 UTC today.

https://www.satsignal.eu/software/beta.htm

The only issue I've seen is that you may need to ask the MSG Data Manager to
recreate any active Detail images. Just click on the channel thumbnail and
select the detail image number. Likely you will only see this if you use the
-Detail:<n> command line parameter to start the MSG Data Manager. Automatic
updates to the MSG Animator for IODC data are not yet coded.

Please report any issues to the SatSignal group:

Cheers,
David

Hi,

those who use my PyTROLL/SatPy Kit 3.0 will have to edit a few things in the MSG1.py script(s) for MSG2. Yo may also want to add an xmsg2 tmp directory and a Meteosat-9 image directory. Don't forget to adapt full disc area 'seviri_iodc' in ..../pppconfig/areas.yaml where the central meridian lon_0 changes from 41.5 to 45.5 degrees East. Goodbye MSG1.

Regards,
Ernst

The MSGx script doesn't need to be changed; it works for all MSG's, IODC, RSS or 'normal'.

But the areas.yaml  needs to be updated as described by Ernst. Hm, this info is in the prologue file and could have been extracted, like the HRV upper and lower shifts, which are extracted by satpy from the prologue file...
